    Abstract: Systems and methods for locating a position of a mobile device are provided. The system can include a plurality of anchors. Each anchor can be positioned at a fixed location. The plurality of anchors can be configured to communicate with one another and with the mobile device by transmitting data packets formatted according to a media access control (MAC) frame structure. The MAC frame structure can include a beacon period for synchronizing the plurality of anchors in the system via transmission of a first set of communication packets. The MAC frame structure can include a contention-free period. The MAC frame structure can include a contention period. The system can include a position estimator configured to estimate the position of the mobile device.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for locating a position of a target object are provided. The target object can be equipped with a plurality of spatially distributed antennas, and can be located within a network of a plurality of anchors at fixed locations. A plurality of anchor pairs can be assigned. Each anchor pair can include at least two anchors. The anchor pairs can transmit and receive range request (REQ) and range response (RSP) packets. The REQ and RSP packets can be received by the antennas on the target object. Distance differences between the target object to the first anchor and from the target object to the second anchor of each anchor pair can be estimated, based on times at which the REQ packet and the RSP packet are received at the target object. The position of the target object can be estimated based on the distance differences.

The true fly-time of the first or second packets between the first anchor and the second anchor and the bias in time of flight of the first or second packets between the first anchor and the second anchor are estimated. The time difference of arrival at the mobile device between a direct path and an indirect path is further estimated and the NLOS bias in the time difference of arrival estimated at the mobile device is corrected.

A reference voltage and a triangle region for the reference voltage are determined. Vertices for a space vector that is closest to the reference voltage is outputted. Lastly, the space vector modulation signals a, b, and c corresponding to the space vector in the valid region are outputted.

The data are encoded at the transmitter using a rate-adaptive code to produce encoded data, and scrambled using the first key before broadcasting. Subsequently, the receiver can estimate a second channel response to generate a second key to be used to descramble the broadcast data.

    Abstract: An adaptive coding scheme for nonlinear channels improves reliability and an efficiency in digital communication networks. The method monitors channel statistics to analyze an extrinsic information transfer chart of the channels. The channel statistics are fed back to the transmitter to adapt forward error correction coding. A parametric analysis method uses a Gaussian mixture model. The statistical information feedback can adapt an ARQ sheme by adding a weighted received signal to the original coded signals to reduce nonlinear distortion. Trellis shaping can make the transmitting signal preferable for nonlinear channels.
