    Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to methods, devices and computer readable storage media for determining a transport block size (TBS) for Contention Free Random (CFRA) in a random access procedure. In example embodiments, a CFRA request is transmitted by a terminal device to a network device during a random access procedure. The terminal device receives a random access to the CFRA request from the network device. The random access response indicates a TBS granted by the network device for use in transmission. Based on the granted TBS, the terminal device transmits, to the network device, a first data block with the granted TBS or a second data block to be transmitted and stored in a buffer. In the way, the data may be avoided, and the data transmission efficiency may be improved.

    Abstract: Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to methods and devices for transmission by selecting between uplink resources. According to a method implemented by a terminal device in a communication system, a configuration of a first resource is received from a network device, the first resource being a grant-free resource. An uplink grant is received from the network device, indicating a second resource for use in a transmission time interval. The terminal device determines, based on the configuration of the first resource, whether the first resource is available in the transmission time interval. In response to determining that the first resource is available and possibly in response to a predefined condition associated with a logical channel for the terminal device is met, the terminal device transmits uplink data to the network device using the first resource.

    Abstract: While a transmission time interval (TTI) length of other than 1 ms is in effect for communication between mobile and network nodes, at least one timer related to discontinuous reception (DRX) is implemented according to a rule that defines a time duration of the timer different from a time duration of the same timer implemented when the TTI length is defined as 1 ms. There are a plurality of such DRX-related timers, and in certain embodiments each is associated with one rule of a set of rules for implementing the respective timer when the TTI length is other than 1 ms; and in particular examples the timers are associated with groups for this purpose and all the timers of at least one of the groups is implemented according to the same rule of the set. Thus new DRX parameters need not be sent anytime the TTI length changes.

A first device receives a criterion to select a random access type for performing random access to a second device. The first device further determines whether the first device is allocated a contention-free random access resource for a certain random access type, and then performs the random access to the second device based on the determination and conditionally based on the criterion. As such, in the case where contention-free random access resource has been allocated for a certain random access type, the device can conditionally apply the criterion for selection of the random access type and can thus perform random access with improved efficiency.
