  • Publication number: 20220330050
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, automatically detecting a service issue of a telecommunication system that may impact a customer of a telecommunication service provider of the telecommunication system, predicting, by the processing system, a future customer care interaction by the customer as a result of the service issue, initiating a resolution action of the telecommunication system for the service issue before the customer contacts a customer care agent of the telecommunication service provider, wherein the initiating is responsive to the predicting the future customer care interaction and modifying a component of the telecommunication system to improve efficiency of operation of the telecommunication system by reducing a number of customer care contacts by customers of the telecommunication service provider. Other embodiments are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20210014353
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a callee device for detecting a spoofed call from a caller device. Further, the callee device may include a communication device and a processing device. Further, the communication device may be configured for receiving a first connection request from a first caller device of the caller devices and receiving at least one signaling message from a second caller device of the caller devices. Further, the processing device may be configured for initiating a second connection to the second caller device based on the caller identification, determining an inferred call state based on the at least one signaling message, comparing an expected call state of the first caller device and the inferred call state based on the determining of the inferred call state, determining an indication of spoofing based on the comparing, and performing an action based on the determining of the indication of the spoofing.

  • Patent number: 8843642
Abstract: Described is a technology by which a gesture made with a source device (e.g., a cellular telephone), such as a throwing or pointing motion, is used to automatically set up a connection with another device to which the gesture is directed. Audio signals output during the gesture, e.g., such as at the start and end of the gesture, are detected by candidate (listening) devices. The device having the least time difference between detection of the start and end signals is the device that is generally best aligned with the throwing or pointing motion, and thus may be selected as the target device. Once selected, a connection such as a network connection may be set up between the source device and the target device for further communication, such as for application data exchange.

  • Patent number: 7729204
Abstract: Acoustic ranging may involve determining a distance between a first device and at least one other device using one or more acoustic signals. In an example embodiment, a first device emits a first acoustic signal and then receives the first acoustic signal at a first time. The first device also receives a second acoustic signal at a second time, with the second acoustic signal having been emitted by a second device. The first device ascertains a first value that reflects a difference between the first time and the second time. Responsive to at least the ascertained first value, the first device determines a distance between the first device and the second device.
