  • Patent number: 4228971
Abstract: A seat belt retractor with a tension eliminating mechanism comprises a reel on which a webbing is wound up when the reel rotates in one direction, first biasing means biasing the reel to rotate in the one direction, a ratchet wheel journaled on a concentric bearing portion formed on the reel, a toothed stopper arm for stopping rotation of the ratchet wheel when engaged with the same, second biasing means to bias the stopper arm to move in a direction to be disengaged from the ratchet wheel, an external gear journaled on an eccentric bearing portion formed on the reel, third biasing means to bias the ratchet wheel to rotate in the same direction as the one direction relative to the external gear, an internal gear stationarily mounted to the retractor and operatively engaged with the external gear, at least one stud fixed to the external gear, at least one arcuate slot formed in the ratchet wheel to be concentric with the same for spacedly receiving therein the stud, the stud and the slot being so arranged and

  • Patent number: 4172568
Abstract: A seat belt retractor with a tension eliminator is provided with a ratchet wheel arrangement which acts as a position memory upon closing of a buckle switch and which is responsive to the belt webbing being drawn off the reel of the retractor by a seat occupant leaning forward beyond a predetermined distance, the wheel being rotated via an internal/planetary gear arrangement, proportionally to the excess distance whereupon the webbing can be retracted only said predetermined distance inducing a degree of tension eliminating slack in the webbing upon return of the occupant to the position in which he or she buckles the seat belt.

  • Patent number: 4148525
Abstract: A hinge fitting for seats having an adjustable backrest, comprising first and second hinge members adapted to be secured to one side of the seat and backrest, respectively, and connected pivotably to each other. Locking means normally locks the hinge members at different angles to each other, the locking means including first and second locking members normally meshing with each other in a plane, the first locking member being a toothed sector integral with the second hinge member, the second locking member being a toothed member pivoted on actuating means which in turn is pivoted on the first hinge member and adapted to be operated manually by a control lever. Restraining means cooperates with the first hinge member to restrain the locking members therebetween from being at least partly disengaged from each other in a direction perpendicular to the plane in which the locking members mesh with each other.

  • Patent number: 4141518
Abstract: A safety-belt retractor for use in vehicles comprising a take-up mechanism for taking up a safety-belt, and a locking mechanism for which is used to prevent pulling-out of the safety-belt. A clutch mechanism acts, in the running condition of the vehicle, to render the locking mechanism inactive, while, in an emergency condition of the vehicle, it activates the locking mechanism. An emergency detector provided with an inertia disk enables the clutch mechanism to connect with the locking mechanism in response to the action of the inertia disk in the emergency condition.

  • Patent number: 4090678
Abstract: A safety belt locking device for a safety belt retractor having a shaft rotatably mounted on a frame is provided. The safety belt locking device includes a velocity change sensor for sensing a velocity change of the vehicle, a lever for transferring the velocity change to a locking mechanism for locking a rapid protraction of the safety belt.

  • Patent number: 3958828
Abstract: A reclining seat device including a fixed seat cushion base having a horizontal shaft and a seat back arm supported upon said base so as to be rotatable around the horizontal shaft. The seat back arm and the base are respectively provided with serrations, which are connected to each other under normal conditions. A release lever pivotably supported at the horizontal shaft includes means for releasing the connection of said seat back arm with the base when the release lever is turned, whereby the seat back may be rotatable around the horizontal shaft. The release lever is also provided with a return spring, and accordingly by adjusting the seat back at a suitable angle and releasing the release lever, the seat back may be set at a desired angle position.
