Abstract: A method includes: determining, by a terminal device, that assistance information of the terminal device can be sent to a first network device through a signaling radio bearer (SRB) 3, wherein the terminal device is connected to at least two network devices, and the first network device is a secondary network device in the at least two network devices; and sending, by the terminal device, the assistance information to the first network device through the SRB3, wherein the assistance information is used to indicate a configuration expected by the terminal device or service information of the terminal device.

Abstract: A communications method and apparatus are provided. A network device determines whether a first capability of a terminal device is less than or equal to a second capability of the terminal device. The first capability is a capability of the terminal device of working at a first frequency when the terminal device supports only a first radio access technology, and the second capability is a capability of the terminal device corresponding to the first frequency in a first frequency combination. When the first capability is less than or equal to the second capability, the network device sends a first message to the terminal device. The first message is used to indicate the terminal device to measure a second frequency, the first message does not include a configuration of a first measurement gap, and the first measurement gap is used to measure the second frequency.

Abstract: This application relates to a communication method and device. A remote terminal device receives a first data packet from a relay terminal device by using an SRB1. The first data packet includes a first message and an SRAP header. The remote terminal device removes the SRAP header via an SRAP entity to obtain configuration information. The SRAP entity is determined before the SRAP header is removed. The remote terminal device configures the SRAP entity based on the configuration information. The remote terminal device may predetermine the SRAP entity.

Abstract: An access network device determines to add, for a remote terminal device, a direct path for connecting a first cell. The remote terminal device is connected to a second cell through an indirect path. The access network device sends an RRC reconfiguration message to indicate the remote terminal device to switch to the direct path. The RRC reconfiguration message further indicate not to release the indirect path. When being indicated to switch to the direct path, the remote terminal device may further be indicated not to release the indirect path.
