  • Publication number: 20180270788
Abstract: A method performed by a radio access network node for paging of a communication device in a coverage area, served by the radio access network node, in a communications network, the method comprising: receiving (401) a page request from a core network node, wherein the page request comprises an indication of a support level of the communication device (140), which support level indicates whether or not the communication device (140) supports a specific mode of operation of a RAT; and determining (402), based on the indication of the support level of the communication device, and based on a capability of the coverage area to support the specific mode of operation of the RAT, a channel for paging the communication device in the coverage area, or not to page the communication device in the coverage area.

  • Patent number: 9801037
Abstract: The transmission of a warning message to a mobile terminal in a mobile communication network is triggered by an emergency event. The mobile terminal is first made aware of the need to receive a warning message by reception of an emergency event notification. The warning message is divided into a plurality of message segments. Each segment is transmitted in a separate paging message over a paging channel to mobile terminals in an idle mode. Information is added to each message segment to enable the mobile terminal to discriminate between segments belonging to different warning messages.

  • Patent number: 9763171
Abstract: An E-UTRAN neighbor cell list is broadcast in a GERAN network using the extended EARFCN value ranges (i.e., 18 bits). Extending the EARFCN value ranges in GERAN and signaling EARFCN values within the extended EARFCN value range to inter-RAT-capable UEs that camp in GERAN allow GERAN to support continued inter-RAT mobility between GERAN and E-UTRAN networks. E-UTRAN neighbor cell information may be communicated to UEs in the GERAN network by System Information message broadcasts using the extended EARFCN value ranges.

  • Patent number: 9743318
Abstract: Support of handover of a wireless device (110) from a first Radio Access Network, “RAN”, (101) of a first Radio Access Technology, “RAT”, to a second RAN (111) of a second RAT that is different from the first RAT. Said RATs being supported by the wireless device (110). A first radio network node (102) is comprised in the first RAN (101) and said RANs (101, 111) are comprised in a cellular radio system (100). The first radio network node (102) sends (201; 301), to the wireless device (110), a request to return a compressed version of RAT capability information. The RAT capability information is associated with the wireless device (110) and at least one of the first RAT and the second RAT.

  • Patent number: 9736742
Abstract: According to an aspect, a network node operating in a first RAN according to a first RAT receives a handover request for a user equipment from a cell in a second RAN operating according to a second RAT. After handover of the user equipment to a cell in the first RAN is completed, the network node configures the user equipment to measure frequencies corresponding to the second RAN. Based on measurements reported by the user equipment for the frequencies, the network node identifies detected cells exceeding a measurement threshold, and sends a handover report towards the second RAN. The handover report includes, for at least one detected cell exceeding the measurement threshold, a physical cell identifier and a frequency identifier for the detected cell. The network node obtains configuration information for the detected cell, from another node, and uses the obtained configuration information for subsequent mobility procedures.

  • Patent number: 9357452
Abstract: A telecommunications node (e.g., base station subsystem) and method are described herein that broadcasts a set of system information messages (e.g., SI2quater messages or pairs of SI2ter messages and SI2quater messages) for use by a legacy mobile station which enhances the overall probability (over time) that the legacy mobile station (non-supporting mobile station) in a network sharing scenario will find frequency, cell information or a combination of both within the broadcasted system information messages to be used for the legacy mobile station's cell reselection process to provide continuity with the legacy mobile station's registered PLMN (i.e. the Common PLMN of a shared radio access network). In addition, the telecommunications node (e.g., base station subsystem) and method can also broadcast a different type of system information message for used by a supporting mobile station.

  • Patent number: 9326193
Abstract: Described is a method for managing locally switched call connections in a wireless communication network comprising receiving, at a core network node, a first message indicating that a first user equipment connected via the locally switched call connection has been detected in a target radio access node and transmitting, triggered by the first message, a second message requesting a status change of the locally switched call connection to a second user equipment, such that a user plane data path from the first user equipment to the second user equipment is switched to a core network path. Moreover, the method is implemented in a network node, while the method steps can be executed by means of a computer program product comprising instruction sets performing each method step.

  • Publication number: 20160057662

  • Patent number: 9264975
Abstract: When a wireless terminal attaches to the network, the wireless terminal is assigned a temporary identifier. Different sets of access restrictions are associated with different blocks of temporary identifiers. When a message and a corresponding temporary identifier is received by the network from a requesting wireless terminal, an access controller identifies the block to which the assigned temporary identifier belongs and determines the access restrictions associated with that block.
