  • Publication number: 20190081684
Abstract: An access node transmits, in a downlink signal having a series of subframes, a beam-formed reference signal in subframes, where the beam-formed reference signals are transmitted in fewer than all of the subframes of the downlink signal. A first subset includes beam-formed reference signals corresponding to a first frequency or first localized range of frequencies, and a second subset includes beam-formed reference signals corresponding to a second frequency or second localized range of frequencies. The second frequency or second localized range of frequencies is spaced apart from and differing from the first frequency or first localized range of frequencies. A user equipment, UE, receives, in the downlink signal, the beam-formed reference signal in each of a plurality of subframes. The UE performs mobility management measurements using at least the first subset of the received beam-formed reference signals and performs RLM using the second subset of the received beam-formed reference signals.

  • Patent number: 10063275
Abstract: A method of handling interference caused by inter-modulation in a network node site comprising a set of network nodes for wireless communication capable of communication with a set of stations for wireless communication is disclosed. The stations are wireless transceiver devices and communication from the network node to any of the stations is considered to be downlink communication and communication from any of the stations is considered to be uplink communication. The method comprises detecting an interference level on the uplink carrier frequency band for a subset of stations of the set of stations, and determining whether the interference level indicates probable inter-modulation interference. If the interference level indicates probable inter-modulation interference, the method proceeds with modifying a power control scheme for the subset of stations, and sending a parameter set based on the modified power control scheme to the subset of stations. A computer program and network node are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20180242210
Abstract: A UE (22) in handover consideration transmits an uplink measurement signal comprising repetitions of a predetermined identity code. Network access nodes (18, 20) that are candidate handover target nodes receive the signal and use it for channel quality and timing offset measurements. To ensure that a predetermined minimum number of symbols are received without interference from user traffic, an uplink measurement signal reception window is defined for each candidate node (18, 20). The timing of the reception window is based on a total timing misalignment between the UE (22) and the candidate node. In some embodiments, the duration of the reception window is based on an uncertainty in the timing misalignment estimate. Reception of user data is precluded during the uplink measurement signal reception window (on the allocated subband, if the full uplink carrier is not used). The UE transmits the uplink measurement signal in an uplink measurement signal transmission window.

  • Publication number: 20180227814
Abstract: A wireless device (16) in a wireless communication system (10) is configured to perform measurements on a set of candidate links for supporting a network node (18) in the system (10) to make a decision as to which of the candidate links is to be a target link for a link switch. The wireless device (16) reports (e.g., at the physical layer) measured candidate links one link subset at a time in order of the wireless device's preference for the target link, until the wireless device (16) receives a target indication signal indicating which of the candidate links in the set is to be the target link. Any given link subset reports one or more candidate links which the wireless device (16) has measured for the decision. Responsive to receiving the target indication signal, the wireless device (16) performs the link switch to the indicated target link.

  • Publication number: 20180227865
Abstract: A wireless communication device in a cellular wireless communication system activates (402) radio receiver circuitry during repeated time windows. The repeated activation has a nominal repetition time interval, T, and each repeated time window has a window duration, DT. During each DT, detection (404) is made of a plurality of synchronization signals that are transmitted by a respective cell. Based on the detected synchronization signals, calculation (406) is made of a respective cell quality value. These calculated quality values are then provided (408) to a mobility process. Depending (410) on the calculated quality values and at least a first quality threshold, any of I and DT are adjusted (412).
