    Abstract: A cutting instrument, such as a thread nipper, is provided with a safety breakaway finger loop. In use should the cutting instrument inadvertently be engaged and pulled into a textile machine, for example, the finger loop engaging the hand of the user will automatically breakaway from the body of the cutting instrument.
