  • Patent number: 7445040
Abstract: A heat exchange fin spacer. The fin may be sandwiched between two plates in a brazed-plate heat exchanger. The fin is based upon a corrugated product having wave legs which, when mounted, define flow channels for a gas to be condensed. The fin has at least one condensed liquid drainage channel on the wave legs and deviation elements that drain the liquid towards at least one lateral edge of the wave legs. The deviation elements are provided with at least one leading edge and/or at least one inclined trailing edge. The invention is suitable for use in the main heat exchanger of an air separation unit.

Assignee: L'Air Liquide, Societe Anonyme a Directoire et Conseil de Surveillance pour l'Etude et l'Exploitation des Procedes Georges Claude
Inventors: Claire Szulman, Etienne Werlen, Fabienne Chatel
  • Patent number: 7059397
Abstract: The invention concerns a heat exchanger which includes a stack of plates defining passages, containing corrugated fins which include a transverse section with repeated corrugated pattern extending between two upper and lower end planes. The pattern includes a base corrugated pattern that includes corrugated legs linked to corrugated summits and corrugated bases, this base pattern being modified by a sub-pattern which defines, between at least some corrugated legs, additional leading edges located at an intermediate level between the end planes. The invention is applicable to cryogenic gas—gas heat exchangers.

  • Patent number: 7011695
Abstract: Zeolite adsorbent, and method of production, exchanged with calcium and barium cations, for purifying or separating a gas or gas mixture, in particular air, so as to remove therefrom the impurities found therein, such as hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides (NxOy). The adsorbent is preferably an X or LSX zeolite and the gas purification process is of the TSA type.

  • Publication number: 20050005766
Abstract: The invention concerns a calcium and barium cation-exchanged zeolitic adsorbent for use in a process for purifying and or separating a gas or gas mixture, in particular air, so as to eliminate impurities contained therein such as hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides (NxOy), preferably, among ethylene, acetylene, butane and propane. Preferably, the adsorbent is an X or LSX zeolitic exchanged to between 10 and 90% with calcium cations and to between 10 and 90% with barium cations, the sum of barium and calcium cations present representing at least 20% of the exchangeable cations. The purification process is of the TSA type. Advantageously, CO2 impurities and/or water vapour contained in the gas stream are eliminated as well. The invention also concerns a method for making such an adsorbent.

  • Publication number: 20040173344
Abstract: The invention concerns a louvered fin comprising an assembly of wave stems (123) alternately linked by a wave crest (121) and a wave base (122), and wherein the wave stems (123) are provided with flaps (125) cut out in said wave stems (123) and sloping at angle relative to the main undulating direction (D1). The wave stems (123), crests (121) and bases (122) form, in cross-section relative to the main undulating direction (D1), rectilinear segments, the crests and the bases being mutually parallel.

  • Publication number: 20040144525
Abstract: The invention concerns a heat exchanger comprising a stack of plates defining passages, containing corrugated fins comprising a transverse section with repeated corrugated pattern extending between two upper and lower end planes. The pattern comprises a base corrugated pattern (M) comprising corrugated legs (13) linked to corrugated summits (16) and corrugated bases (17), said base pattern being modified by a sub-pattern (M1) which defines, between at least some corrugated legs, additional leading edges (20, 21) located at an intermediate level between the planes. The invention is applicable to cryogenic gas-gas heat exchangers.
