  • Patent number: 6576696
Abstract: A divalent metal stannate product having a loss on ignition of 2-17% by weight, e.g. a product intermediate ZnSn(OH)6 and ZnSnO3 has advantageous flame-retardant properties, for use e.g. in polymer formulations.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 6245846
Abstract: In PVC polymer formulations for sheathing for electric wires and cables, it has been determined that antimony trioxide and divalent metal (e.g. zinc) stannate or hydroxystannate cat provide a synergistic flame-retardant additive combination. In this invention, polymer formulations using this flame-retardant additive combination contain not more than 1.5 wt. % of antimony trioxide.

    Filed: September 2, 1999
Date of Patent: June 12, 2001
    Assignee: Alcan International Limited
