  • Patent number: 11860358
Abstract: Angular sensors that may be used in eye-tracking systems are disclosed. An eye-tracking system may include a plurality of light sources to emit illumination light and a plurality of angular light sensors to receive returning light that is the illumination light reflecting from an eyebox region. The angular light sensors may output angular signals representing an angle of incidence of the returning light.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 1, 2022
Date of Patent: January 2, 2024
    Assignee: Meta Platforms Technologies, LLC
Inventors: Liliana Ruiz Diaz, Ruiting Huang, Robin Sharma, Jonathan Robert Peterson, Christopher Yuan Ting Liao, Andrew John Ouderkirk, Giancarlo Sigurd Sante Nucci, Clare Joyce Robinson
  • Patent number: 11853473
Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method for detecting glints includes a pair of light sources positioned on a head-mounted frame and driven to illuminate a corneal surface of an eye with differential light signals. An image sensor is positioned on the head-mounted frame to receive reflections of the differential light signals from the corneal surface. An orientation of a cornea (e.g., corneal sphere) of the eye may be determined at least partially based on the reflections of the differential light signals.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 14, 2022
Date of Patent: December 26, 2023
    Assignee: Meta Platforms Technologies, LLC
Inventors: Alexander Jobe Fix, Clare Joyce Robinson, Mohammadhossein Daraeihajitooei, Timo Stoffregen
  • Publication number: 20230055268
Abstract: An apparatus, system, and method for detecting glints includes a pair of light sources positioned on a head-mounted frame and driven to illuminate a corneal surface of an eye with binary-encoded differential light signals. An image sensor is positioned on the head-mounted frame to receive reflections of the differential light signals from the corneal surface. An orientation of a cornea (e.g., corneal sphere) of the eye may be determined at least partially based on the reflections of the binary-encoded differential light signals.

  • Patent number: 10544917
Abstract: Shades and/or reflectors for luminaires. The luminaires may be retrofitted with the shades and/or reflectors to selectively control the direction and/or spectrum of light emitted by the luminaires. In particular, the efficiency and/or color contrast of a luminaire may be improved by using wavelength shifting material, such as a phosphor, to absorb less desired wavelengths and transmit more desired wavelengths. The shade may provide a transmissive filter which reflects desired wavelengths such as red and green, while passing less desired wavelengths (e.g., blue) toward the wavelength shifting material which emits such as light of more desirable wavelengths.
