  • Patent number: 7460013
Abstract: A remotely-actuated residential water supply cut-off system is disclosed. A remotely-actuated cut-off valve interposed in a residential water line downstream of a pressure-reducing valve. An electronic actuator is mounted on the cut-off valve and is remotely actuated to drive a DC motor in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction to open or close the cut-off valve in response to a received signal. The electronic actuator includes a transceiver, a microcontroller and a motor. The microcontroller drives the motor to open or close the valve in response to a wireless signal received by the transceiver. A handheld transceiver unit sends a signal to the actuator to open or close the cut-off valve, or operate in automatic mode.

  • Patent number: 4361247
Abstract: A safety receptacle including a tank and a lid therefor. The lid is shiftable between its open and closed positions by a linkage system connected to the lid by a linkage connector. The linkage system includes a member which overlies the lid and is connected to the linkage connector by a heat sensitive actuator which releases the linkage connector when the lid is open in the presence of fire thereby allowing the lid to close by its own weight.

  • Patent number: 4182459
Abstract: A fusible link restrains a spring which in turn is connected to a chain or similar flexible retainer member extending between the housing part of the receptacle and the hinged lid part of the receptacle. In the presence of heat the link melts causing the spring to exert a pull upon the chain which pulls the lid part of the receptacle closed.
