  • Patent number: 4687044
Abstract: A centrifugal injection machine comprises a rotor arm bearing at each of a pair of free ends a pivotably mounted container. A holder which retains a multiplicity of workpieces is insertable into a capsule or cavity within each container. The rotary arm contains a reservoir associated with each container or liquifying a charge of material. Upon rotation of the machine at a high velocity, the liquified material is transferred from the reservoir to the container in a vacuum and is pressurized therein as a result of centripetal acceleration. Upon the termination of a predetermined interval, a trip mechanism is activated to rotate the containers so that the molten liquid which has not been injected under pressure into recesses in the workpieces is ejected or discharged from the containers. The containers rotate within a vacuum chamber which is depressurized prior to the centrifuge operation.

  • Patent number: 4478884
Abstract: A method of applying an enamel coating (14 and 15) to an apertured (11) metal base (10) is characterized by plugging the or each aperture with an electrically insulating material (12), applying a coating (14, 15) of a vitreous material to one or both surfaces (13 and 16) of the base and then removing a core (18) of the vitreous material and the insulating material from the or each apertures to leave it lined with insulating material during subsequent firing of the vitreous material.By this means, thinning of vitreous material around the aperture is avoided, reducing the likelihood of electrical connection between the metal base and an electrical conductor extending through the aperture. The invention has particular application to the manufacture of electrical printed circuits.

  • Patent number: 4301580
Abstract: A method for fabricating electrical component assemblies includes the steps: (a) providing a first electrode and a first electrical component and locating the electrode in a recess formed by the component to produce a first laminate subassembly, (b) providing a second electrode and a second electrical component and locating the electrode in a recess formed by the second component to produce a second laminate sub-assembly, and (c) locating said two sub-assemblies in mutually stacked relation, thereby to form a resultant assembly. The components are typically provided by deposition on the electrodes and to protrude edgewise thereof beyond selected edges of the electrodes, thereby to form electrical contacts, and said locating of the sub-assemblies is carried out to cause said contacts to protrude in at least two different directions from the resultant assembly. The component typically consist of dielectric material, and the electrodes are typically deposited in the form of electrically conductive ink.
