Publication number: 20240118771Abstract: A proximity sensor including a structure suspending at least one lens above a circuit board, light emitters operable to project light beams through the lens along a common projection plane, light detectors operable to detect amounts of light arriving through the lens at the detector, wherein an object in the projection plane reflects light from an emitter to one or more of the detectors, and wherein each emitter-detector pair, including one of the emitters and one of the detectors, when synchronously activated, is expected to generate a greater detection signal at the activated detector than the other detectors, were they to be synchronously activated with any of the emitters, when the object is located at a specific 2D location in the projection plane corresponding to the emitter-detector pair, and a processor identifying gestures performed by the object based on amounts of light detected by the detector of each emitter-detector pair.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 7, 2023Publication date: April 11, 2024Inventors: Stefan Johannes Holmgren, Jan Tomas Hartman, Tom Richard Berglind, Lars Bertil Sparf, Jonas Daniel Justus Hjelm, Jon Elis Gõsta Karlsson, Per Carl Sture Rosengren, Gunnar Martin Frõjdh, Joseph Shain, Xiatao Wang, Clarence Ray King, III, Oscar Ritzén Praglowski de Radwan

Patent number: 7077526Abstract: A method and mechanism for cooling a display device, having an extremely bright light focused on its surface and is mounted inside a closed chassis, by conducting heat from the device directly to the chassis walls, where the heat is then transferred to the lower temperature air of the ambient surroundings. The mechanism uses an adjustable mechanical linkage to close the gap and make a good thermal contact between the projection device package or heat sink stud and the chassis wall. This approach reduces the requirements for large heat sinks and noisy cooling fans found in many conventional projection systems.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2002Date of Patent: July 18, 2006Assignee: Texas Instruments IncorporatedInventors: Scott P. Overmann, John T. McKinley, Clarence A. Martin, Jacky D. Grimmett, John P. O'Connor

Publication number: 20030085659Abstract: A method and mechanism for cooling a display device 200, having an extremely bright light focused on its surface and is mounted inside a closed chassis, by conducting heat 220 from the device directly to the chassis walls 212, where the heat is then transferred 222 to the lower temperature air of the ambient surroundings. The mechanism uses an adjustable mechanical linkage 208 to close the gap 214 and make a good thermal contact between the projection device package 200 or heat sink stud 206 and the chassis wall 212. This approach reduces the requirements for large heat sinks and noisy cooling fans found in many conventional projection systems.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 12, 2002Publication date: May 8, 2003Inventors: Scott P. Patent number: 6466127Abstract: The present invention, in certain embodiments, is an apparatus to indicate the presence of an under-pressurized pneumatic tire for a vehicle, including, trailers, tractors, trucks or passenger vehicles. The apparatus comprises a housing, a cap, a shaft, a probe element, a bracket, an electrical switching element an electrically powered alarm. The housing is mounted next to the axle for the wheel of the vehicle. The cap is attached to the housing and has an aperture to receive the shaft. The shaft extends through the cap, and at one end, receives the probe element, and at the other end, holds the bracket upon which the electrical switching element is attached. When a tire loses air pressure, the height of the tire, as well as the vertical distance from the axle to the travelling surface, decreases; as the vertical distance decreases, the probe element contacts the travelling surface and rotates the shaft, bracket and electrical switch.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 2001Date of Patent: October 15, 2002Inventor: Clarence A. Martin
