    Abstract: The invention is a method for coordinating the retail distribution of pharmaceuticals and durable medical equipment. A health care provider or patient selects a pharmacy or durable medical equipment supplier from a database. The health care provider or his designee electronically transmits a prescription to the pharmacy or durable medical equipment supplier. The pharmacy or durable medical equipment supplier fills the prescription and collects payment from patient and patient's insurer. The health care provider manages the prescription after the prescription is transmitted but before the prescription is filled by the pharmacy.
