  • Patent number: 11571568
Abstract: Devices and methods can be used to treat dermatologic disorders, hyperhidrosis, and wrinkles using DC electroporation. In some cases, such electroporation is essentially non-thermal modulation that can be used to ablate keratinocyte neoplasms, such as seborrheic keratosis, and other non-keratinocyte derived neoplasms of the skin and adnexal structures and related structures in other anatomic sites. In some implementations, the devices and methods described herein can be used for therapy delivery for the treatment of early or pre-malignant skin cancers. In some implementations, the devices and methods described herein can be used for treatment of hyperhidrosis and cosmetic issues.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 10, 2019
Date of Patent: February 7, 2023
Assignee: Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research
Inventors: Spencer A. Bezalel, Clark C. Otley, Samuel J. Asirvatham, Christian Lee Baum

  • Patent number: 9332978
Abstract: Kits, apparatus, devices and methods for treating varicose veins caused by an incompetent venous junction (e.g., the saphenofemoral and/or saphenopopliteal junctions) are disclosed. The kits may include a sheath, a vein closure device, and an injection device. Alternatively, a vein closure device may include an integral injection channel and injection device. Methods may include injecting a vein with a sclerosing agent through a needle that extends in a direction that is not aligned with a longitudinal axis of a sheath or shaft.
