  • Publication number: 20110311855
Abstract: The invention provides solutions to the problems and needs stated above by providing battery separators that are inexpensive and easy to produce, provide superior performance over traditional separators, and provide robust safety. Towards those ends, the invention provides, in one aspect, the invention provides for a battery electrode comprising: an electrode having a surface, the electrode comprising: a plurality of active material particles; and, a plurality of electrically conductive particles, wherein the active material particles are capable of reversibly storing ions; a separator layer upon the electrode surface, the separator layer having top and bottom surfaces, the bottom surface facing each electrode surface, the separator layer comprising: a plurality of organic polymer particles, each particle having a gross cross sectional dimension between 0.

  • Publication number: 20110183203
Abstract: Methods and devices arising from the practice thereof for making and using battery electrodes formed onto ion permeable, electrically non-conductive substrates, preferably battery separators are disclosed herein. Electrodes are formed onto substrates using a variety of methods including, but not limited to, spray coating and electrophoretic deposition. Electrically conductive layers may be applied to the electrode coating layer side opposite or adjacent to the substrate to act as current collectors for the battery. Multilayer devices having alternating layers of conductive layers, electrode layers and substrates, wherein the conductive layers may be in electrical communication with other conductive layers to form a battery.

  • Publication number: 20070124802
Abstract: A user gains access to a private network by connecting to a network, either through a hardwired or wireless connection, and then initiates an Internet access request targeting any website. If the user is not already authorized for Internet access, then the user is sent to a first predetermined website that points the user to an authentication server accessible via the Internet. The authentication server sends the user an HTTP form pages requesting authentication information. When the user responds, a network monitoring device within the private network alters the form page to include the user's hardware address and an encoded ID based on the network's location. The authentication server forwards this data to a gate keeper server, which authenticates the new user and transmits an unblock message along with another encoded ID based on the network's location and the user's hardware address.

  • Publication number: 20030195845
Abstract: What is disclosed is 1) effective aggregation of both wireless and wireline networks and consumers of services based on these networks, 2) the introduction of this aggregated network footprint to the aggregated consumer base, and 3) the exchange and/or resale of services to these consumers in order to obtain a profit. This is implemented by deploying a service which acts as an interchange and gateway for various Network Service Providers, Billing Service Providers, network locations and their users.

  • Patent number: 5696897
Abstract: The state of a functioning computer operating system is quickly stored onto a nonvolatile storage device such that the computer system may be suspended quickly. To quickly save the state of computer operating system, a process firsts prepares for the computer system suspend by allocating a file on the root file system that will store operating system state data. The process then warns each user application process running on the computer system to allow each user application process to prepare for the suspend. After the warning, the process suspends each user application process. The memory space used by each user application process is then swapped out to nonvolatile storage. Next, the various kernel daemons and operating system subsystems are suspended. Finally the process suspends the device drivers running on the computer system such that there is no activity in the computer system. A compressed version of the operating system state is then written to a nonvolatile storage device.
