  • Patent number: 6047502
Abstract: An improved gutter guard that operates by capillary action to allow water to flow off the roof and into an existing gutter system, yet precludes foreign matter from entering into the gutter, thereby preventing the gutter from becoming clogged, and providing a substantially maintenance-free gutter system. Preferred embodiments are shown for both plastic and aluminum construction, and several attachment means are shown for anchoring the gutter guard to a standard gutter system. The gutter guard can be economically manufactured and easily retrofit or used in conjunction with existing gutters.

  • Patent number: 4667448
Abstract: A gutter for the roof structure of a building has a plurality of vertically-extending slotted openings interspersed between a respective plurality of comb teeth for diverting the rain water off the roof and into the conduit by a capillary attraction of the water molecules, as the leaves, twigs and other foreign matter washes off the roof. The width of the slotted openings is relatively narrow and the comb teeth are relatively rigid, so that birds, vermin and small animals cannot enter into the conduit for nesting therein. As a result, clogging of the gutter is prevented; cleaning of the gutter is substantially obviated; and the gutter is substantially maintenance free and relatively unaffected by the formation of snow or ice on the roof. Moreover, the gutter is made economically from a single piece which is punched, bent and formed; and the gutter may be easily installed by homeowners, do-it-yourselfers, and semi-skilled craftsmen.

  • Patent number: 4419772
Abstract: A water saver for the water closet of a flush toilet, which allows the operator to vary the amount of water being used according to the requirements of the situation. A lever on the exterior of the water closet controls the egress of water from a separate secondary reservoir contained within the water closet. Varying the position of the lever varies the amount of water which escapes from a trap door on the secondary reservoir attached to the lever. When very little water is required for the flushing process the secondary reservoir remains undisturbed. However, if the entire amount of water contained within the water closet is required then the secondary reservoir will empty completely because of the position of the control lever. The amount of water that escapes from the secondary reservoir, which varies from all to none, is determined by the position of the trap door in relation to the walls of the reservoir, which varies the effective volume of the reservoir.

  • Patent number: 4314733
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a space saving filing cabinet designed to be deployed in a closet. The cabinet is an elongated narrow rectangular solid with a mounting tab on the top which captures the hanger bar in the closet and stabilizer legs pivotally mounted to the bottom of the cabinet which fan out and stabilize the cabinet when in use. Access is gained to the contents of the filing cabinet by withdrawing the inner cabinet from the outer cabinet. The inner cabinet slides forward on tracks mounted inside the outer cabinet. Once extracted the inner cabinet reveals drawers situated on the side face of the inner cabinet. Each drawer is a truncated rectangular box provided with a hinged door and two knobs. Each drawer is mounted within the inner cabinet by wheels which follow grooves located in the inner cabinet, so that the bottom of each drawer will swing outwardly from the inner cabinet providing easy access to the contents of the drawer.
