Abstract: A composition for use in treating skin disorders and especially acne without the side effects of steroids, antibiotics, anti-fungal, and other treatments (e.g. UV radiation, light therapy, etc.). The orally-administered composition is a compound of sphingolipid and an ingestible sulfur (including any sulfur compound, sulfur-containing moiety, or sulfur salt). In a preferred embodiment the present composition also includes an adjuvant, preferably zinc and/or a proanthocyanidin, preferably from grape seed extract, and other excipients for taste, consistency and/or coloring. The above-described composition is orally administered in tablet form pursuant to a prescribed protocol of therapeutic doses to a subject.
