  • Publication number: 20040010000
Abstract: Dosage forms and methods for the controlled release of oxycodone over a prolonged period of time are described. The sustained release dosage forms provide therapeutically effective average steady-state plasma oxycodone concentrations when administered once per day. This once-a-day dosing regimen results in only one peak plasma oxycodone concentration occurrence in each 24 hour period that occurs at a later time after administration and exhibits a lesser magnitude than the peak plasma oxycodone concentration that occurs following administration of oxycodone in an immediate-release dosage form and other prior art extended release dosage forms.

  • Publication number: 20030224051
Abstract: Dosage forms, compositions and methods for the controlled release of oxycodone over a prolonged period of time are described. The present invention discloses a novel means for delivering varying doses of oxycodone using a drug composition having only oxycodone, a polymer carrier and varying amounts of salt to provide a particular viscosity of the hydrated drug core for delivery of the drug at the desired release rate. The present invention functions by modulating the viscosity of the hydrated drug layer in operation by the addition or reduction of salts in the drug composition. The system is independent of solubility enhancers or pH modifiers. The sustained release dosage forms provide therapeutically effective average steady-state plasma oxycodone concentrations when administered once per day.

  • Patent number: 5319088
Abstract: 2,3,5,6-Tetrachloropyridine, and 2,3-dichloro-5-(trichloromethyl)pyridine are prepared by selectively chlorinating polychlorinated .beta.-picolines in the vapor phase between about 250.degree. and 450.degree. C. in the presence of specific Lewis acid halide catalysts on an inorganic support. The gamma position on the pyridine ring is usually not chlorinated in the starting material or reaction products. These compounds are useful intermediates to produce insecticides and herbicides.

  • Patent number: 5166352
Abstract: Pyridinecarboxylic acids and their acid chloride, aliphatic ester and alkylamide derivatives are prepared by passing vapors of a (trichloromethyl)pyridine compound, such as 2,3-dichloro-5-(trichloromethyl)pyridine over gamma-alumina at a temperature of about 250.degree. C. to 450.degree. C. to obtain a pyridinecarboxylic acid chloride compound, such as 2,3-dichloronicotinoyl chloride and, if desired, subsequently converting this compound to its acid, an ester, or an amide, such as 2,3-dichloronicotinic acid, methyl 2,3-dichloronicotinate, or N-methyl-2,3-dichloronicotinamide, by treatment with water, an aliphatic alcohol, or ammonia or an alkylamine, respectively.

  • Patent number: 5157173
Abstract: 4-chlorobenzotrichloride was prepared by the chlorination of p-xylene in the vapor phase at a temperature above about 200.degree. C. in the presence of an activated carbon catalyst and water. An approximately 75 percent calculated yield was obtained at 250.degree. C. using a wide-pore activated carbon catalyst.
