  • Patent number: 4794658
Abstract: A mattress construction includes a watermattress bladder or inner spring mattress subassembly which is enclosed in a quilted mattress cover. This cover typically includes an outer fabric, a backing and an inner fabric which are quilted together. The outer fabric is colored and typically provided with a pattern or indicia. The fabric itself consists of a loose weave of threads providing openings or interstices in the fabric. The backing, typically formed of foam or fiber, is provided with pigments which are visible through the interstices of the fabric and provide a background color for the color in the fabric. In this manner, the pigments in the backing material enhance the distinct images of the indicia and add to the depth and richness of the mattress color. This provides the mattress cover with substantially colorfast characteristics increasing its chroma and color quality to provide an attractive, long lasting, appealing appearance.

  • Patent number: 4194026
Abstract: A method of making textured foam coatings and materials is disclosed. A mixture of a curable frothed elastomeric emulsion composition and 20 pounds or less of thermally expandable beads to each 100 pounds of elastomeric composition is applied to a foam substrate and heated. During heating the plastic beads expand to produce a textured pebble-like coated elastomeric article.

  • Patent number: 4084030
Abstract: A textured building material, suited for use as an acoustical wall and ceiling covering, comprising a cellular urethane foam substrate and an elastomeric coating and a method for its production is disclosed. The building material is flexible and damage resistant, which makes it especially useful in mobile vehicles and homes. The process consists of applying a foamed elastomeric resin emulsion onto a urethane substrate to a desired thickness; drying the coated substrate thus formed; and thereafter crushing the dried elastomeric coated substrate to form a composite textured material.
