  • Publication number: 20240142609
Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure are drawn to apparatuses, systems, and methods for radar object classification. A radar classification system may include a number of endpoint units and a base station. Each endpoint unit includes a camera and a radar. The camera may image a scene and the image may be used to establish spatial zones within the scene. The radar may collect point cloud data from one or more objects in the scene. A classifier may determine an identity of the object based on the point cloud data. The base station may collect information such as the identity and location of objects in the scene and relate this information to the spatial zones. For example, objects may be identified as a vehicle, pedestrian, or cycle, and related to zones such as roadway, sidewalk, and crosswalk for the purpose of traffic control.

  • Patent number: 11820509
Abstract: An embodiment of the invention provides a method where retractable ducts or shrouds are extended over propeller(s) that are fixed in wing channels on an aircraft during takeoff and landing to increase flight safety and efficiency. Fully extending the duct or shroud during takeoff increases lift and upward thrust, while retracting the duct or shroud and stowing the duct or shroud inside of the wing during forward cruise decreases aircraft drag and increases lift. Duct or shroud extension during takeoff also enables critical safety and noise cancellation functionality. The method provided for safe and efficient takeoff can be applied in reverse order for safe and efficient landing.

  • Patent number: 10119984
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting and recording accelerations experienced by a structure and a method for operating the apparatus are provided. The apparatus includes an accelerometer, processor, and non-volatile computer memory device. The method includes operating the apparatus in a reduced power state, detecting an acceleration having a magnitude that is greater than a first preselected threshold magnitude, switching each of the accelerometer, processor, and non-volatile computer memory device to a fully operational state, storing accelerometer data in a buffer, switching the processor and computer memory device to a reduced power state until the accelerometer signals that further data is available, storing any further accelerometer data in the buffer, and repeating the steps until a predetermined time has elapsed since the accelerometer last detected an acceleration having a magnitude which is greater than a second preselected threshold magnitude.

  • Publication number: 20100238119
Abstract: An external cover for a tablet smartphone with a flat touchscreen includes a rear clamshell formed of deformable plastic material that receives and surrounds the tablet, and a rim that resiliently clips the rear clamshell to the tablet. A hinge blister and intervening web forms a two degree of freedom hinge with a form-fitting front clamshell that can be freely lifted and dropped on the touchscreen but indexes to it, can be locked in place with a clip that readily engages and disengages from a docking port at the bottom of the tablet, and that is strengthened by an arch shaped rim. A planar sheet, formed of dielectric plastic, that covers the entirety of the flat touchscreen, is slightly suspended above to create an air gap, and is formed in a shape and thickness that substantially transmits the shape of a capacitive finger contact patch through the planar sheet to the touchscreen when the sheet is pushed down to the touchscreen.

  • Publication number: 20100222160
Abstract: The present invention is a putting alignment and aiming tool and ball marker, to assist a user in aligning and aiming a putt on a putting surface with a golf ball. The tool can be colored or in black and white and have a generally horizontally flat circular coin body with a top flat surface with a middle area and a bottom flat surface with a middle area. The tool is placed behind the golf ball with the bottom flat surface in flat physical contact with the putting surface that indicates an intended putting line. The top flat surface is also visible to the user to assist the user in aligning and aiming the putt on the putting surface with the golf ball towards a hole or practice cup. The tool can also be flipped over exposing the bottom surface area that can also indicate an intended putting line. There is also a single overall method of usage for both the colored and black and white tools also.

  • Patent number: 7711760
Abstract: A device includes a computer processor and a file store coupled to the computer processor. The file store includes a hierarchal file system. A plurality of files is located in the hierarchal file system. Each of the plurality of files is associated with digital signature metadata determined by a content of the file. A plurality of directories is located in the hierarchal file system. Digital signature metadata is associated with each of the plurality of directories and determined by the digital signature metadata associated with the directories and the files that are direct descendants of the directory. An update module determines if an update to any of the plurality of files is available based on the digital signature metadata associated with a root directory in the plurality of directories.
