  • Publication number: 20130017084
Abstract: A vertical axis wind turbine having a rotor assembly within a support structure supporting a rotor assembly. A directional vane repositions a guide track to maintain a substantially fixed position relative to changes in the wind direction. A blade is rotatably connected to a strut extending from a rotatable shaft. The blade pitch is controllable with a guide pin positioned substantially near the trailing edge of the blade. The guide pin follows a guide track resulting in a blade pitch that may change as the blade rotates through a revolution. Multiple guide tracks may be used to change the blade pitch pattern at a given position as a result of varying operating conditions such as wind velocity. Using guide track pitch control, the drag and lift forces can be optimized for improved starting torque as well as improved lift and reduced drag under high wind velocity conditions.

  • Publication number: 20090314046
Abstract: This invention is related to methods for the production of high phosphorus fertilizer products from waste products. In particular, the method describes the production of liquid and dry fertilizer products produced from the incineration of wastewater treatment sludges utilizing biological phosphorus removal (Bio-P). The fertilizers produced can be used interchangeably for commercial purposes either directly as a fertilizer product, or mixed with other conventional products to produce custom blended fertilizers for particular purposes.

  • Publication number: 20050077251
Abstract: The invention consists of a process to cost-effectively reduce or eliminate odors from wastewater treatment plant processes. The invention discloses the recycling of a portion of a wastewater treatment plant nitrified effluent, utilizing the dissolved oxygen and nitrate in the effluent to prevent the formation or reduce levels of sulfides and odourous organics in primary clarifiers. The process can be supplemented with conventional chemical treatment such as nitrate addition, and other process recycle streams such as incinerator scrubber water may also be used.
