  • Patent number: 6603963
Abstract: A remote loop-back device with elements outside a waveguide such that the elements do not interfere with propagation of waves traveling in the waveguide. The remote-loop-back device also uses lossless lines of defined length for transporting the microwave signals outside the waveguides.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 27, 2000
Date of Patent: August 5, 2003
    Assignee: Lucent Technologies Inc.
    Inventor: Claude Boulic
  • Patent number: 6097936
Abstract: The present invention relates to a reception device for microwave signals, in which it is possible to extract information (V2) linearly dependent on the power level received at the input of the said device. According to the invention, the profile of the control voltage of the variable power attenuators (6, 7, 8) of the device is modified in order to obtain a curve of the control voltage which is of hyperbolic shape, and this voltage is linearized by a polynomial unit (11).Application for the production of point-to-point links in the field of directional millimeter radio.

  • Patent number: 6081151
Abstract: The present invention relates to a variable power-attenuation circuit whose attenuation is controlled electronically by a control voltage (Vc). This circuit includes resistive elements (R20, R21, D20, D21) of which at least two resistive elements are diodes (D20, D21), and a biasing device intended to set the direct current passing through the diodes. This circuit is characterized in that the biasing device includes means for independently setting the characteristic impedance of the circuit, the size of the dynamic range of the control voltage (Vc) and the position of the said dynamic range.Application to the production of transmission devices for directional radio.

  • Patent number: 5430411
Abstract: A high frequency amplifying system includes an input coupling circuit having an input terminal for receiving a high frequency signal, a pair of amplifiers, and an impedance mismatch circuit for coupling each amplifier to a respective output terminal of the coupling circuit. The impedance mismatch circuit is controllable by a control signal supplied thereto to produce a selected degree of mismatch between the coupling circuit and the input impedances of the amplifiers, to thereby provide adjustable gain control of the amplifying system. The coupling circuit introduces phase shifts between the input and output terminals thereof which attenuates reflection therebetween of intermodulation products resulting from the presence of interfering signals at any of such terminals.
