  • Patent number: 6713150
Abstract: The invention relates to a component part, especially a rear parcel shelf, and to a method for the production thereof, whereby the component part is provided with a honeycomb-like core layer (2) which is provided with a reinforcing layer (3, 4) on each side. This layer comprises a nonwoven that contains thermoplastic fibers. The core layer (2) is made of thermoplastic material and is connected to the thermoplastic fibers of the reinforcing layer (3, 4) b material fit. The reinforcing layer (3, 4) is precompressed and air permeable and has an air flow resistance ranging from 500 Nsm−3<R<3500 Nsm−3.

    Filed: July 2, 2002
Date of Patent: March 30, 2004
Assignee: Rieter Automotive (International ) AG
Inventors: Thorsten Alts, Jean Casulli, Claude Buisson
  • Patent number: 6676199
Abstract: The invention provides a lightweight vehicle flooring assembly, wherein a carrier layer (1) has a layered structure. This structure comprises a honeycomb-like core layer (7) which can be made of a suitably impregnated cardboard material and which is connected on both sides to a stiffening layer (8, 9). The inner stiffening layer (8) is made of an SMC-material, whilst the outer stiffening layer (9) is made of a needled, preferably open-celled or porous nonwoven, also suitably impregnated against humidity and dirt. The structure of the carrier layer (1) and, in particular, the sequence of the layers: skin, honeycomb structure, nonwoven is of particular significance for the mechanical stability of the carrier layer (1). The carrier layer (1) is provided with an inner and an outer lining, the inner lining comprising a PU-foam spring layer (10) and a rubber or latex mass layer (11).

  • Patent number: 5741390
Abstract: A method for the production of an inherently stable self-supporting composite part for engine hoods for acoustic screening of noises. A prefabricated outer membrane blank part is cut and trimmed to form an outside sheet. This outside sheet is bonded to a prefabricated inside packing to form a self-supporting structure independent of the engine hood. The inside packing is provided with fastener elements and a removable protective film attached to an exposed surface of the packing. A primer is applied to the outside sheet of the self-supporting structure. A lacquer is applied to the primer and the protective film is removed.

  • Patent number: 5567922
Abstract: There is described a sound-insulating power vehicle part which includes a shaped outer sheet and an acoustically effective inside packing which together form an inherently stable lightweight composite part. To obtain this, a thermosetting plastic is used for the outer sheet while the inside packing is formed of a fiber-resin fleece, which is only slightly compacted in an acoustically effective main area and is closely compacted in its stabilizing areas.
