  • Patent number: 5642946
Abstract: Rolling-contact bearing equipped with a sealing device for the passage of a fluid. The bearing comprises a rotating race and a non-rotating race, through each one of which there pass channels (6,7) for the passage of fluid, rolling bodies (3) between the rotating race and non-rotating race, and a sealing device (8) mounted between the rotating race and non-rotating race to form a sealed intermediate chamber (14) communicating with the channels (6,7) for the passage of the fluid. The intermediate chamber has two flexible walls (11), the free end parts of which form two sealing lips (12) in rubbing contact with a bearing surface (13) of one of the races (2) of the bearing. The sealing device (8) comprises two coaxial seals made of a flexible material and held against each other by means of a metal reinforcing member (10), each of the seals comprising a ring of axial teeth (16) separated from one another by circumferential gaps.

  • Patent number: 5624192
Abstract: The rolling-contact bearing comprises one outer race 11, two inner races 12,13, two rows of rolling bodies 14 held in cages 15 and a built-in device for detecting the speed of rotation, of the type comprising a sensor means 17 and an encoder means 19 which are located in the annular chamber defined between the inner races 12, 13 and outer race 11 and the rolling bodies 14. The encoder means 19 comprises an active part 20 capable of creating in the sensor means 17 a periodic signal of frequency proportional to the rotational speed of the bearing 1. The encoder means 19 comprises a support part 21 secured to the inner races 12,13 and made of a nonmagnetic material, so that the said support part 21 axially holds the inner races 12,13 against each other before the bearing 1 is mounted in the mechanical assembly for which it is intended.According to the invention, the encoder axially secures the inner races after the bearing has been assembled and cannot come into contact with the rolling bodies.

Abstract: A device for sensing the rotation speed of a bearing comprises an encoder member fastened to a rotating part of the bearing and a sensor assembly comprising a plastics material sensor support housing a sensor and a metal support for locating and fastening the sensor assembly on and to a non-rotating part of the bearing. The sensor support is overmolded onto the latter's outside surface. The sensor faces the encoder member in order to measure its rotation speed. The-metal support comprises a substantially axial centring portion adapted to cooperate removably with a bearing surface on the non-rotating part of the bearing and a washer-like plane radial portion adjacent the centring portion adapted to be clamped between a radial surface of the non-rotating part of the bearing and a radial surface of a non-rotating member. The device may be fitted to vehicle wheel hub assemblies.

  • Patent number: 5434503
Abstract: The device for detecting the rotational speed of a rolling-contact bearing includes an encoding element provided with a multipolar ring with axial magnetism secured to the rotating race of the bearing. The device further includes a sensor element provided with a passive sensor with a coil wound in an annular magnetic flux concentrator of U-shaped cross-section, and with a sensor holder secured to the non-rotating race of the bearing. The multipolar ring and the sensor element are located radially with an air gap.
