  • Patent number: 12152468
Abstract: An electrically powered drilling rig, such as for slim hole drilling, includes a drilling floor positioned over a drilling well, a set of pieces of drilling equipment operable for drilling the well, a first enclosure being positioned remotely of the drilling well and at least one electric motor being housed within the first enclosure. The electric motor is operated to provide power to one or more of the set of pieces of drilling equipment. The electric motor is housed within the enclosure and is remote of the drilling well and provides a buffer therebetween to prevent sparks from reaching the drilling well, thereby decreasing a fire hazard. The electric motor may be powered by a mobile battery pack. The electric motor may power a hydraulic pump, which further provides hydraulic fluid under pressure to the pieces of drilling equipment.

  • Patent number: 11050759
Abstract: A communication device includes a directional antenna, and a control circuit. The directional antenna has a directional radiation pattern for directing greater power of a transmitted signal in a specific direction. The control circuit is coupled to the directional antenna and determines an angle and a distance to another device. Based on the determined distance and angle to the another device, the control circuit selects a security level from a plurality of security levels for communication between the device and the another device. In another embodiment, a method for transmitting data between the first and second devices is provided.

  • Publication number: 20160150034
Abstract: Infrastructure for locating members of a crowd and controlling interactions with them. A control system stores a scenario, comprising at least one step, for interacting with the crowd. The control system receives location data from a plurality of handheld computing devices of the crowd, and data representative of interactions with the crowd. The control system processes the location data and a specific step of the scenario, to generate a command for interacting with the crowd, and to further identify specific handheld computing devices for applying the command. The control system further transmits the command to the specific handheld computing devices. The control system also processes the data representative of the interactions with the crowd. The specific handheld computing devices process the command to actuate themselves for interacting with the crowd. The handheld computing devices also transmit data representative of interactions with the crowd to the control system.
