  • Patent number: 6498328
Abstract: A heating device for the electromagnetic induction heating of a metal strip traveling in a specified direction. The device includes at least one electric coil arranged opposite at least one of the large surfaces of the strip so as to heat the latter by transverse magnetic flux induction, each coil being associated with at least one magnetic circuit. Each circuit is divided into a plurality of magnetically independent bars arranged parallel to the direction of travel of the strip. The bars may moved toward or away one another thereby adapting to the width of the strip and distributing the magnetic flux across the width of the strip.

  • Patent number: 5485483
Abstract: A device achieves thermal protection and cooling of the poles of an electromagnetic inductor, in particular for an induction furnace. The furnace comprises a plurality of tubes, arranged side by side and substantially coplanar, through which a coolant fluid flows. The connection of the tubes to the inlet and outlet pipes for the coolant fluid is made by a combination of socket and O-rings designed to ensure both electrical discontinuity and leaktightness between each tube and the pipes.

  • Patent number: 5430274
Abstract: Electromagnetic-induction heating coil, especially for the heating of metallurgical products, in which coil conductors are cooled with the aid of a tube in which a cooling fluid, in thermal contact with the conductors, circulates, wherein the conductors are wound in at least one ply, as a helix around the cooling tube so that the ply has at least one twist of one complete turn between two electrical terminals of the coil.

  • Patent number: 5397877
Abstract: Device for the induction heating of flat metallic products on the move with the aid of electrical coils provided on magnetic armatures arranged on either side of the large faces of the product to be heated, which moves continuously between the said coils, wherein the inductors are mechanically independent of each other and they are arranged symmetrically in relation to the median plane of the product so that the magnetic fields generated are in phase opposition, leading to a ring-like distribution of the currents induced in the product to be heated up.

  • Patent number: 5370172
Abstract: Mobile modules for electromagnetic-induction heating or reheating a flat metallurgical product on the move, wherein each of the said modules is mounted so as to move on a track perpendicular to the direction of movement of the product. Each module includes an on-board counterweight, the potential energy of which may, at any instant, be used to quickly remove the module from the product.
