  • Patent number: 4553143
Abstract: A flat panel display in which photoresistive dividers on a first substrate are coupled to the leads of an optical display on a second substrate, such as an electroluminescent panel, by means of elastomeric connectors for coupling the photoresistor conductive leads to corresponding leads of the optical display means.

  • Patent number: 4509045
Abstract: A flat panel display system for use with AC plasma panels in which addressing signals for an AC plasma panel display line is taken from a voltage divider comprised of two photoresistors, a coupling photoresistor and a decoupling photoresistor. Addressing pulses are coupled to the coupling photoresistor and sustaining voltage signals are coupled to the AC line via a capacitor which shunts the decoupling photoresistor. The coupling and decoupling photoresistors are illuminated in turn. The decoupling photoresistors, will upon illumination accelerate the decay of voltages appearing across the coupling photoresistor and on the AC plasma panel display line.

  • Patent number: 4467325
Abstract: A flat panel display in which a matrix array of electro-sensitive pixel elements organized in rows and columns are coupled to photosensitive devices such as photoresistors. The photoresistors are in turn coupled to X and Y addressing leads which contain X and Y alphanumeric or graphic information to be displayed in the matrix array. The photoresistors are illuminated with light sources substantially in synchronism with signals present on the X or Y addressing leads. Upon illumination by a scanning light source such as a self-scanning gas discharge device, the photoresistor's resistance drops and permits the information on the X and Y addressing leads to be coupled to the appropriate pixel. Addressing of large flat panel displays using as few as two driver circuits for the X and Y leads and as few as four driver circuits for the self-scanning gas discharge device is thus possible.

  • Patent number: 4274742
Abstract: Passive ring resonators utilize counter-rotational beams of electromagnetic energy to sense the rate of rotation of the passive ring through detecting a consequence of the shift in resonator frequency induced by such rotation. The clockwise and counter-clockwise resonant frequencies are oscillated between respective first and second values. Detectors produce signals indicative of the amplitudes of the first and second beams. Algebraic combinations of the amplitude signals are used to generate a rotational rate signal.

  • Patent number: 3946267
Abstract: An optical filter system is provided for use with a penetration phosphor cathode ray tube of the special kind in which La.sub.2 O.sub.2 S particles are employed as the carrier hosts in the cathodo-luminescent penetration phosphor composition. Tb and Eu ions are used in low concentrations as activators in the control of red and green optical line emission from within a film of the activated host phosphor material. The filter system, bonded to the face plate of the cathode ray tube, provides contrast enhancement with respect to ambient light reflected from that face plate, greatly increasing the equivalent brightness of the color display.
