  • Patent number: 4953398
Abstract: A method of measuring acoustic vibrations affecting the fluid in a well at a plurality of points which are angularly distributed around the axis of the well and which are in the proximity of the wall of the well by means of an apparatus including an elongate body which is rotatable about its longitudinal axis and having at least one acoustic vibration detector disposed at the end of an arm which is hinged to the body. The arm is moved away from the body so as to place its end at a determined distance from the wall of the well, and the arm is then caused to rotate continuously about the axis while simultaneously recording the signals produced by the detector. The method is suitable for use in a relief well to locate a well which is blowing out.

  • Patent number: 4442711
Abstract: The invention is related to a device for measuring the flowrate of fluid through a well. The device according to the invention comprises an upper portion adapted for connection with a cable, two elongated side members, generally parallel to and spaced from each other, secured to the upper portion, a vortex generating assembly comprising at least one obstacle secured between said side members transversely of their longitudinal direcition, said side members having, at least in the region of said assembly, facing walls which are substantially planar, and a transducer responsive to the occurrence of vortices generated by said assembly, said transducer producing a signal indicative of said flowrate.

  • Patent number: 4278942
Abstract: In the representative embodiment of the invention disclosed herein, an electrical logging tool is arranged to include an axial body around which a plurality of annular electrode members and insulating members are alternately stacked to achieve a particular configuration of formation-measuring electrodes. Fluid seals are arranged between the annular members and the stack is compressed between the ends of the axial body for defining an oil-filled chamber within the tool body.
