  • Patent number: 5868225
Abstract: A brake actuator having a mechanical actuating member (3) with an automatic adjusting device (5) to compensate for wear associated with friction members (6a,6b). The adjusting device (5) has a variable length created by an elongated nut (7) and a screw (9) which are urged in an unscrewing direction by a force from a spring (16) which is prestressed within a retention member (17). The retention member (17) has a first end which engages a second plate (14) and a second end which engages spring (16) to define a caged structure, The spring urging the elongated nut (7) into engagement with a first plate (12) and the first plate (12) into engagement with the second plate (14). A cylindrical sleeve (18) has a radial collar (18a) which is trapped between the spring (16) and second end of the retention member (17) to slidably engage the second end (7b) of the elongated nut (7) for guiding the second end (7b) into alignment with screw (9).

  • Patent number: 5697475
Abstract: A disk brake having at least one piston (14) which slides in a caliper (12), the caliper (12) sliding over a stationary support. The piston (14) being actuateable by a mechanical subassembly (22) having substantially first (24) and second (26) parallel plates. The first plate (24) being driven in rotation by a lever (32) about an axis (X--X') perpendicular to its surface. The second plate (26) being held in a stationary position with respect to rotation and secured to piston (14). A face on at least one of the first (24) and second (26) plates has a groove formed therein for receiving balls (28) to convert rotational movement of the first plate (24) into axial transulational movement of the second plate (26). The lever (32) has a first part (34) fastened onto an end (36) of a sheath of an actuating cable (38). The sheath (40) bearing on an end stop member (42) which is held stationary with respect to the caliper (12). The sheath (40) has an end stop member (42) which is formed on a brace member (44).

  • Patent number: 5494139
Abstract: A combination of a device connecting a yoke (1) and a caliper (2) of a sliding caliper disk-brake includes a key (7) engaged axially in housings of the yoke (1) and caliper (2). The key (7) and one of the housings (10) have non-circular cross-sections and the key (7) is acted upon resiliently by a wire spring (11) of the device so as to reduce the clearance with the housing (10).
