Abstract: The present invention relates to compounds of formula (I) ##STR1## in which: R.sub.f denotes a linear or branched C.sub.6 to C.sub.20 perfluoroalkyl radical or a mixture of linear or branched C.sub.4 to C.sub.20 perfluoroalkyl radicals;m represents 0, 1 or 2;n represents a statistical value or integer between 2 and 10;G represents a unit chosen from: ##STR2## it being possible for each of the oxygen atoms to be linked to a hydrogen atom or to another unit G, to their use as surfactants and also to cosmetic or pharmaceutical compositions and vesicles containing them, and to a process for preparing them.

Abstract: A cosmetic composition comprises in solution in an appropriate vehicle at least one polymer having 50-100% of repeating units of the .beta.-alanine type having the formula ##STR1## and 0-50% of repeating units of the acrylamide type having the formula ##STR2## wherein R.sub.1 represents hydrogen or a member selected from the group consisting of ##STR3## (ii) --CH.sub.2 OH, (iii) --(CH.sub.2).sub.n --CH.sub.3 wherein n is 0 or a whole number from 1 to 11, ##STR4## wherein r' and r" each independently represent hydrogen or alkyl having 1-3 carbon atoms, (v) --CHOH--COOH, (vi) --CH.sub.2 --SO.sub.3 Na, ##STR5## wherein m ranges from 1 to 10, and R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 represent hydrogen or methyl.

Abstract: The present invention relates to new cationic surfactant compounds of formula: ##STR1## in which: R.sub.1 denotes a C.sub.12 -C.sub.18 alkyl radical;R denotes methyl, ethyl, hydroxyethyl or benzyl; X denotes an inorganic or organic anion;n is between 2 and 15;w equals 0, 1 or 2;the group [C.sub.5 H.sub.6 N.sub.2 R.sup.+ ] representing the following structures, taken mixed or separately: ##STR2## as well as to their use as biocides.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the use, as thickening agents in surface-active agent solutions, of aminopolyol carbamates corresponding to the general formula: ##STR1## in which: R.sub.1 represents a linear, saturated C.sub.8 -C.sub.3 alkyl;R.sub.2 represents hydrogen or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl;n is between 1 and 5.The present invention also relates to washing and/or cleaning compositions containing surface-active agents and to these compounds.

Abstract: The invention relates to a pharmaceutical or cosmetic composition for topical application, containing, in a suitable carrier, microspheres of polymers or of fatty substances filled with at least one active product, characterized in that at least 80% of the microspheres employed have a diameter of between 3 .mu.m and 10 .mu.m.

Abstract: A cosmetic composition in the form of an aerosol spray for hair control contains a solvent; a film-forming tetrapolymer resulting from the copolymerization of (a) 5 to 10 wt. % acrylic acid, (b) 20 to 52 wt. % N,N-dimethylacrylamide, (c) 3 to 28 wt. % of N-tert-butylacrylamide, and (d) 20 to 45 wt. % ethyl methacrylate, the carboxylic acid functions of the tetrapolymer being at least partially neutralized with a mineral or organic base; and at least one non-halogen propellant gas. This spray provides excellent hair control, and the film-forming substance does not cause stickiness of the hair over time and is easily eliminated by washing with a shampoo.

Abstract: A one-step process for preparing cross-linked poly-.beta.-alanine as microspheres having narrow size distribution comprises polymerizing acrylamide with a polyfunctional compound copolymerizable with acrylamide (with the polyfunctional compound also acting as the cross-linking agent) in an organic solvent or a mixtured such solvents in the presence of an ionic polymerization initiator and a suspension agent. The resulting microspheres may be impregnated with a pharmaceutically or cosmetically active substance.

Abstract: An anhydrous cosmetic makeup composition for the lips and skin contains crosslinked poly .beta.-alanine microspheres impregnated with a polyhydric alcohol.

Abstract: A process for preparing crosslinked poly .beta.-alanine in the form of microspheres comprises (a) polymerizing acrylamide in a tert. butanol/toluene solvent mixture in the presence of a polymerization initiator and an octadecene-maleic anhydride copolymer as a suspension agent; (b) submitting the resulting suspension of poly .beta.-alanine to a crosslinking reaction using a dialdehyde as the crosslinking agent; and (c) isolating the crosslinked poly .beta.-alanine microspheres. These microspheres exhibit a low size dispersity.

Abstract: A means of reinforcing and/or mechanically deforming human hair, comprising a first stage in which the hair undergoes the action of a reducing agent so as to break the disulfide linkages of the keracystine to form thiol groups, followed by the application in a second stage of a modifying agent encouraging the establishment of new chemical linkages to the thiol groups, characterized in that the aforesaid modifying agent is a polyhaloacetylated polymer whose halogen atom is capable of reacting with thiol groups.

Abstract: A cosmetic composition for improving the suppleness of the skin or hair and for protecting the keratin of the skin or hair from degradation by atmospheric agents or light comprises in a cosmetic or dermatologic acceptable vehicle a saturated condensate resulting from the polyaddition of a bis-acrylamide and a sterically hindered primary diamine, the condensate being saturated by hydrogenation or by addition of a thiol or an amine on the double bonds of the acrylamide residue.

Abstract: An ultraviolet radiation absorbing polymer having units of formula I: ##STR1## wherein X is a group derived from benzylidene-bornanone of formula II ##STR2## wherein R.sup.1 represents hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkoxy andR.sup.2 represents C.sub.4 -C.sub.12 alkyl.The polymer is useful in protecting human skin against sunburn.

Abstract: A water insoluble crosslinked poly .beta.-alanine is prepared by crosslinking poly .beta.-alanine with a crosslinking agent selected from the group consisting of formaldehyde and a dialdehyde or by irradiation of said poly .beta.-alanine with Co.sup.60.

Abstract: A composition and process for setting hair comprises impregnating the hair with a composition containing in solution in a cosmetic vehicle at least one water-soluble polymer containing at least 5% of units having a primary amide function, a crosslinking agent and an acid catalyst. The hair is then placed on hair-setting rollers and dried by means of an external heat source. The hair rollers are then removed.

Abstract: A cosmetic composition contained in a suitable carrier comprising at least one copolymer of acrylic or methacrylic acid, an alkyl acrylate and/or methacrylate and an allyl derivative having repetitive units which correspond to the following formulae: ##STR1## wherein: R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 constitute a hydrogen atom or a methyl radical,R.sub.3 constitutes a linear or branched-chain alkyl radical having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms,R.sub.4 constitutes --OH, --NHCONH.sub.2, or --OCOR.sub.5,R.sub.5 constitutes a linear or branched-chain alkyl radical having from 1 to 5 carbon atoms,x constitutes 40 to 90 weight percent,y constitutes 8 to 50 weight percent,z constitutes 2 to 25 weight percent, and the sum ofx+y+z is from 80 to 100 weight percent.The cosmetic composition is especially useful as a composition for the hair and skin.

Abstract: Vinyl acetate and an unsaturated acid are copolymerized in the presence of bis (4-tert. butyl cyclohexyl) peroxydicarbonate. The resulting copolymer which exhibits improved aerosol propellant solubility characteristics is employed in aerosol hair lacquer compositions.
