Abstract: The alarm and emergency call system having a plurality of local units installed at the users and connected by a telephone line to a central unit having the same design. Each local unit is in radio connection with alarm transmitters and has a control member with an electronic circuit contained in a case, a keypad, and a display unit. Following an alarm signal sent by one of the transmitters, the local unit in question calls different telephone destinations and/or pagers according to a determined cycle. The different function parameters of each local unit are stored in its control member. These function parameters can be entered, adapted or modified remotely from the central unit according to a remote management procedure.

Abstract: Films having widths of up to one meter or more can be coated at high coating speeds of up to 400 meters per minute or more with coating compositions having viscosities reaching up to 400 centipoises or more by arranging first and second guide rollers, a coating roller and rotating smoothing rod such that the path of travel of the film during the coating procedure is a substantially circular path whose diameter is preferably about one meter. During the coating procedure, the tension of the film by the first and second guide rollers is regulated independently of the speed at which the film travels. The apparatus and process have applicability to a wide range of films and coating compositions.
