Abstract: The invention provides a new and efficient process for preparing 2,4(5)-substituted or 1,2,4-substituted imidazole derivatives.The invention also provides a process for preparing substituted aminoalkylimidazole derivatives, useful for the treatment of mammals having a variety of disease states, including stroke, epilepsy, hypertension, angina, migraine, arrhythmia, thrombosis, embolism, and the like.The invention also relates to novel aminoalkylimidazole compounds.

Abstract: A pharmaceutical composition containing an hydrophilic aminoglucoside antibiotic coupled with an organic acid. The coupled aminoglucoside antibiotic and organic acid are encapsulated in a liposome. The composition of the invention is self-regulating in that it liberates the active compound in inverse proportion to the concentration of the compound in the external medium. As a result, the composition serves as a long-acting antibiotic while avoiding the release of a toxic or ineffective dose of the antibiotic into the subject.

Abstract: Carbostyril derivatives of Formula I: ##STR1## wherein: m is 0, 1, or 2;n is 0, 1, or 2;R.sup.1 is hydrogen or lower alkyl;R.sup.2 is hydrogen, halogen, hydroxy, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, aralkoxy, or acyloxy;R.sup.3 is hydrogen, halogen, lower alkyl, or lower alkoxy;R.sup.4 is hydrogen, hydroxy, lower alkyl, acyloxy, provided that when R.sup.4 is hydroxy or acyloxy, m and n are both 1;R.sup.5 is hydrogen or lower alkyl; andR.sup.6 is alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, or (dialkylamino)alkyl;and the pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts and N-oxides (at the carbostyril nitrogen) thereof, and compositions containing them, are useful in treating cardiovascular diseases, particularly arrhythmias. Methods of preparing intermediates, the compounds, their formulations and methods of treatment therewith are also disclosed.

Abstract: Automated apparatus for carrying out biological, biochemical or physicochemical determinations, which consists essentially of an automatic machine for the preparation of solutions intended for these determinations, and of a measuring apparatus, these being connected to a single computer. This apparatus is intended in particular for the determination of antibiotics by turbidimetry.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a piezoresistive gauge. This gauge comprises a support, on which are formed two pairs of electrical contacts, partly covered with a piezoresistive element, made from an electricity-conducting organic compound, chosen from among the salts of tetramethyl-tetrathiofulvalene, quaternary ammonium salts of tetracyanoquinodimethane and diethyl-dimethyl-tetrathiofulvalene-tetracyanoquinodimethane (DEDMTTF-TCNQ).This gauge can be used for measuring pressures of approximately 500 bars to a few kbars.

Abstract: Semi-automatic device which makes it possible to produce cylindrical cavities, according to a given geometrical arrangement, in a layer of gelled material, the said device consisting of a set of several individual devices each of which, as shown in FIG. 1, consists of a cutter inside which a suction tube slides, it being possible for a pressure reduction to be created in the said suction tube.
