  • Publication number: 20070208792
Abstract: A method for compressing and decompressing sequences of floating-point numbers includes determining a minimum value and a maximum value of the floating point numbers of the sequence, determining a quantization step value as a function of the minimum and maximum values, compressing each floating point number of the sequence by applying to the floating point number a linear quantization between the minimum and maximum values and using the quantization step value, and inserting each compressed value resulting from the compression step in a binary sequence.

  • Publication number: 20040267710
Abstract: The invention regards a method for compressing a hierarchical tree describing a multimedia signal, said tree comprising nodes and leaves, which can be associated to contents of at least two distinct types. According to the invention, said method implements a content compression for at least some of said leaves by means of at least two compression encoding techniques, each of said techniques being selectively associated to at least one of said content types.

  • Patent number: 6825781
Abstract: An encoding method for enabling a decoder to decode a structured document having a structure defined in a first schema not accessible to the decoder and resulting from a change of a second schema accessible to the decoder, the first schema defining at least one information element which is derived from a corresponding element defined in the second schema, the encoding method comprising the steps of: encoding the document using said first and second schemas into a binary stream comprising for each elements of the document a binary sequence encoding the element, and inserting in the binary sequence encoding the derived element a reference designating the first schema in which the structure of the derived element is defined, said reference designating the first schema being defined in a schema reference list containing references to all schemas used for encoding the document, the schema reference list being made accessible to the decoder.

  • Publication number: 20040107402
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for encoding and decoding a path that is applied to the hierarchical structure of a structured document, in which a path is defined by a series of segments that connect an originating node to a destination node. Each node represents a document information element which is associated with at least one type of information. The inventive method comprises: a preliminary stage whereby each node in the structure is assigned a list of pairs comprising a name and a type of information element, represented by all the nodes likely to be directly attached to the node, and whereby a respective binary code is allocated to each name/type pair, and a path encoding stage whereby the binary node code that represents the name/type pair of the destination node of the segment is determined (21, 22) for each segment of the path to be encoded, and (23) said code is subsequently inserted in the path code.
