  • Publication number: 20160017133
Abstract: A film comprising from 1 to 50 wt % of polymeric particles having: (a) an average particle diameter from 0.5 to 15 ?m; (b) a refractive index from 1.46 to 1.7; and (c) at least 60% polymerized residues of acrylic monomers; and a continuous polymeric phase comprising a polyolefin; wherein an average refractive index difference measured from 400 nm to 800 nm between the polymeric particles and the continuous polymeric phase is at least 0.03.

  • Publication number: 20150328865
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to compositions and film structures suitable for heat seal production. The heat sealable flexible film structure includes: a layer (A) comprising a propylene-based plastomer or elastomer (“PBPE”) and a low density polyethylene; a layer (B), adjacent to layer (A), comprising at least 50 percent by weight of the layer (B) of an ethylene-based polymer; and an outermost layer (C) comprising a material having a melting point greater than 140° C. Weight percents are based on the total weight of the respective layer. The heat sealable flexible film structure is used to make a flexible container (10) having one or more heat seals (12). The heat seal (12) can be a frangible heat seal, a hard heat seal, or a combination thereof.

  • Publication number: 20150132515
Abstract: A polypropylene-based film comprising at least three layers characterized by two skin layers and at least one core layer, wherein the at least one core layer and/or at least one skin layer comprises a polymer blend of: (i) a first propylene-based polymer which comprises (A) at least 60 weight percent (wt %) units derived from propylene, and (B) from 5 to 40 wt % units derived from ethylene, and wherein the first propylene-based polymer is characterized by a melting temperature (Tm) of less than or equal to 110° C., and (ii) a second propylene-based polymer selected from the group consisting of rPP and hPP and characterized by certain mechanical and/or sealing properties is provided. Also provided is a method of making the polypropylene-based film.

  • Publication number: 20120244327
Abstract: The invention provides a film comprising at least two layers, a first layer and a second layer, wherein the first layer is formed from a first composition comprising A) a propylene-based polymer, B) a first ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer, and C) optionally a LDPE homopolymer with a density from 0.91 to 0.93 g/cc, and a melt index (I2) from 0.2 to 6 g/10 min; and wherein the second layer is formed from a second composition comprising: D) a second ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer, E) optionally a LDPE homopolymer with a density from 0.91 to 0.93 g/cc, and a melt index (I2) from 0.2 to 6 g/10 min, F) optionally a first polymer mixture comprising a homogeneously branched ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer, and a heterogeneously branched ethylene/alpha-olefin interpolymer, and wherein the first polymer mixture has a density from 0.90 to 0.93 g/cc and a melt index (I2) from 0.5 to 5 g/10 min, and G) at least one amide compound.

  • Publication number: 20100272936
Abstract: A multilayer structure comprises at least one barrier layer comprising at least one vinylidene chloride polymer, at least one UV protecting layer, and at least one reflective layer wherein none of these layers also serve as a sealing layer. The multilayer structure is preferably a film, more preferably in the form of a pouch, preferably for packaging flowable product, especially milk. When used as a milk pouch, the structure is more effective at protecting milk from deterioration at ambient temperature and humidity than is a similar multilayer structure having an ethylene vinyl alcohol barrier layer. The multilayer structure preferably has more than one reflective layers and is preferably in the form of a pillow pouch.
