  • Publication number: 20020189297
Abstract: An optical conductor includes a transparent fiber of synthetic material, a reflective layer and a sheathing of synthetic material. The optical conductor is rotationally symmetrical relative to a fiber axis. The property and the position of the end race of the fiber are of decisive significance for the optical quality of a plug connection of two optical conductors. The ends of the optical conductors must be arranged at a minimum spacing one from the other and the fiber axes must be oriented exactly one onto the other. Usually, the end of the optical conductor is mounted in a ferrule, in which case it is important that, in a plug connection, the one end face is positioned exactly relative to the other end face. The projecting fiber end is severed by a laser beam, wherein an end face arises, which displays the required mechanical and optical qualities.

  • Patent number: 6494118
Abstract: Insulation removal equipment for exposing conductors of a flat cable, having a vacuum table, a table drive, a milling tool drive and an advancing drive which is arranged on a carriage and which moves the milling tool drive together with the milling tool on the carriage. The carriage is guided by guide rails arranged at a housing table. The housing table is carried by a housing, at which the table drive is also arranged. The advancing drive moves via a pinion along a rack arranged at the housing and executes the movement of the carriage. The height-adjustable vacuum table is controlled in dependence on the advancing drive and in dependence on the direction of a conductor to be exposed.

  • Patent number: 6425473
Abstract: A finishing installation for cables includes a cable unit, a cable feeder and finishing units. The leading cable end is seized by a loop-laying device and turned horizontally through 180°. At the same time, the cable is advanced by a cable-advancing device and straightened by the straightening path. An encoder measures the length of the advanced cable, while a cable loop is formed during the advancing of the cable. For the taking-over, feeding and delivery of cable ends, the cable feeder has a first transfer unit, which is displaceable along a transfer guide, with a first gripper unit and a second transfer unit, which is displaceable along the transfer guide, with a second gripper unit. Control equipment controls and monitors the finishing installation, wherein the movements of, in particular, the transfer equipment and the gripper units are freely programmable.

  • Patent number: 6418768
Abstract: A crimping including a stand at which a motor and a transmission are arranged. Moreover, first guides, at which a crimping bar is guided, are arranged at the stand. A shaft driven by the transmission has an eccentric pin at one end, and a resolver for detection of rotational angle is coupled to the other end. The crimping bar includes of a slide member guided in the first guides and of a tool holder with a retaining fork. The slide member stands in loose connection with the eccentric pin, wherein the rotational movement of the eccentric pin is converted into a linear movement of the slide member. The tool holder actuates a tool, which together with an anvil produces the crimp connection. An operator terminal is provided as an interface between the operator and the crimping press. The operator terminal includes a rotary knob and a keypad for input of operating data and commands into a control. A display is provided for visualization of data.

  • Patent number: 6362492
Abstract: A cable to be tested includes an electric conductor and insulation. A sleeve is fitted on the insulation. The exposed cable end is prepared for a crimped connection, the electric conductor being connected of a conductor crimp, and the insulation and the sleeve being connected by an insulation crimp to a contact. The dimensions of the conductor crimp zone and the insulation crimp zone of the contact determine the spacing of the insulation end from the conductor end, and the spacing of the sleeve end from the insulation end. To test the sleeve position, the cable is moved over a diaphragm, the diaphragm being more or less covered depending on the instantaneous edge structure of the cable, and the light quantity transiting the diaphragm varying depending on the edge structure of the cable. The edge structures of the cable can be determined from the transiting light quantity.

  • Patent number: 5598270
Abstract: The sensor device includes a planar code carrier on one object, and on another object, a scanning device for an angle of view for determining a viewing direction lying therein, and also a computing circuit. A photodetector detects an illumination density during the course of the scanning of the angle of view according to the direction of light incidence. On the code carrier there is arranged a rectangular code field with its center line parallel to the scanning plane. The code field includes at least two rectangular positioning fields and a rectangular interfield lying in between. The positioning fields contain positional information on the objects which can be evaluated by the scanning device. In at least one interfield, the code includes at least one boundary line obliquely intersecting the center line, the scanning of which boundary line produces a distinct variation of the illumination density in dependence on the direction of light incidence, which corresponds to a viewing direction to be established.

  • Patent number: 4909431
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for preparing a bonding wire, such as gold wire, drawn in contact-free manner from a bonding wire spool mounted in rotary manner about its longitudinal axis and supplied to a bonding device for forming circuits on electronic components. The apparatus constructed as a subassembly essentially comprises an electromotively-driven bonding wire spool carrier arranged on a support plate and a removal station provided with an optronic sensor. The bonding wire is deflected by means of air flows (P' or Q') for forming a bonding wire reserve in the removal station and the wire position is scanned by the optronic sensor. In the case of a decreasing bonding wire reserve, a signal is produced as a function of the bonding wire position, which is processed in a signal evaluation unit and is transmitted to a control unit, by means of which an electromotive drive operatively connected with the spool carrier is operated.

  • Patent number: 4480486
Abstract: In a housing two ultrasonic measuring transducers are arranged opposite of the two end faces of a test tube. The test tube providing a measuring section penetrates a separating wall and interconnects two distribution chambers of the housing. The fluid to be measured flows through the test tube and influences the transit time of the ultrasonic impulses released and received by the measuring transducers. The test tube provides a constant cross-section of metallic material along the length of the measuring section. The connection between the test tube and the separating wall consists of a nonmetallic material, thus preventing echoes which may penalize the measuring accuracy.
