  • Patent number: 9866023
Abstract: An inverter apparatus includes an input stage receiving DC electric power from a DC power generator for loading a DC voltage link, a DC/AC converter connected to the DC voltage link and feeding AC electric power into a power grid. The apparatus further includes a bidirectional connection for loading a battery out of the DC voltage link and for loading the DC voltage link out of the battery, and a controller operating the DC/AC converter and the bidirectional connection. The controller receives present values of relevant parameters of the battery including working data at least related to a state of charge and safety data indicating a safety state of the battery from a battery monitoring unit. The controller, in operating the bidirectional connection, considers the working data and is commanded by the safety data.

  • Patent number: 9369062
Abstract: A method for converting DC power from a source into AC power by means of an inverter which includes three bridge branches, each having a phase output, is described. During grid-connected operation, the bridge branches are actuated in such a way that the AC power is fed, as three-phase grid-compliant power, into a grid. During emergency operation of the inverter, the AC power is provided as single-phase island grid by two of the three bridge branches at the phase outputs thereof, wherein the inverter is disconnected from the grid.

  • Publication number: 20150153153
Abstract: For determining the topology of a grid section of an AC power grid, the grid section comprising a grid connection point, at least one branch branching off from the grid connection point and including a plurality of energy consumption and/or energy generation units, and at least one measurement point in the at least one branch, dependencies of variations of a grid voltage measured at the at least one measurement point based on variations of connection power values of at least some individual ones of the energy consumption and/or energy generation units are determined.

  • Publication number: 20150123475
Abstract: To stabilize the grid voltage in a grid section which is connected to a higher-level grid via an apparatus having a variable voltage transformation ratio and which includes at least one energy consumption or generation unit, the voltage transformation ratio is changed in order to change a grid voltage level in the grid section. In at least in one mode of the method the grid voltage level is raised in order to counteract a rise in the grid voltage at the energy consumption or generation unit, or the grid voltage level is lowered in order to counteract a drop in the grid voltage at the energy consumption or generation unit. This is effectively possible since the power consumption or output of each energy consumption or generation unit in the grid section is controlled via a characteristic curve of the grid voltage present there.

  • Publication number: 20110231159
Abstract: For forwarding operation data related to the present operation of a plurality of inverter units which feed electric power from power generators into a power grid to a monitoring unit, the inverter units and a plurality of intermediate data handling units are connected to the central monitoring unit in a communication network of logical tree architecture. The tree architecture branches towards the inverter units, and several inverter units are connected to each intermediate unit. The operation data from each inverter unit are forwarded to that intermediate unit to which the inverter unit is connected; and, in each intermediate unit connected between the inverter units from which the operation data are forwarded and the monitoring unit, operation data of the same type forwarded from the inverter units connected to the intermediate unit are merged to reduce their data volume, and only the merged operation data are forwarded towards the monitoring unit.
