  • Patent number: 8625890
Abstract: Embodiments use the content of photographic images to stylize geographic features in the photographic images. In an embodiment, a computer-implemented method stylizes geographic features in a photographic image. In the method, a plurality of pixel regions in the photographic image are identified. For respective pixel regions, a plurality of attributes of image content within the pixel region of the photographic image are identified using the image content, and a geographic content type of the pixel region is determined using a classifier trained to recognize the geographic content type based on the plurality of attributes. Finally, at least one of the plurality of pixel regions of the photographic image are altered based on the respective determined geographic content type to stylize a geographic feature illustrated in the photographic image.

  • Patent number: 7809501
Abstract: A method is proposed for entering place names into a device for processing the place names, in particular into a navigation device in a vehicle, where in the case that a match of a place name is ambiguous, a graphical representation for distinguishing the respective places of the same name is displayed for selection of the particular place.

  • Patent number: 7039520
Abstract: A method for operating a navigation system and a navigation system for a vehicle, in which data regarding geographic positions of the vehicle are ascertained by a positioning system and transmitted to an electronic data processing device having access to a database and a digital road map, on the basis of this data the location of the vehicle on the digital road map is determined and destination guidance instructions are output visually and/or acoustically to the driver of the vehicle, wherein additional information can be stored in the navigation system and can be retrieved as necessary by the driver and/or other passengers in the vehicle and output via the navigation system, this additional information being loaded into the navigation system in the form of program “navlets” which are usable by the driver and/or other passengers in the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20040039525
Abstract: In order to create a method for operating a navigation system and a navigation system for a vehicle, in particular for a motor vehicle, in which data regarding geographical positions of the vehicle are ascertained by a positioning system (20) and transmitted to a device for electronic data processing having access to a database (14) and a digital road map, and on the basis of those data the location of the vehicle on the digital road map is determined, and destination guidance instructions are outputted visually and/or acoustically to the driver of the vehicle, with which additional information can easily be stored in the navigation system and can be retrieved as necessary by the driver and/or by other persons in the vehicle and outputted via the navigation system, provision is made for additional information relevant for navigation to be loaded into the navigation system in the form of user programs which, as so-called “navlets” (30), are usable by the driver and/or by other persons present in th
