An exhaust gas recirculation path leads from the exhaust gas manifold into the intake path. A cooling device is provided for cooling the recirculated exhaust gas, wherein the cooling device cools the exhaust gas manifold, and the exhaust gas recirculation path branches off the cooled exhaust gas manifold.
