  • Patent number: 11897076
Abstract: A clamping assembly includes first and second jaws supported above a base in opposed, spaced-apart alignment on opposite sides of a central clamp axis, each jaw having a proximal end portion adjacent the base and an opposite distal end portion, where the jaws are pivotable between an open position and a closed position. A wedge movable along the central clamp axis between the proximal end portions of the pair of jaws in response to moving a handle between a first handle position and a second handle position. A cam assembly between the wedge and the base includes a cam, a follower on the proximal handle end portion, and a spring between the cam and the base. Compressing the spring increases an axial distance between the cam and the wedge.

  • Publication number: 20230398653
Abstract: A clamping assembly includes a base defining a spring well. A spring piston assembly is received in the spring well and includes a spring and a piston body. First and second jaws are supported over the base on opposite sides of a central clamp axis that extends vertically through the spring piston and between the jaws, where the jaws are pivotable between an open position and a closed position. A wedge is movable along the central clamp axis between an end of the jaws. A lever has an elongated lever body extending to an end portion defining an L-shape with a toe and a heel, the end portion positioned between the wedge and the spring piston with the toe pivotably connected to the wedge and the heel coupled to the piston body via a linkage. The lever is operable to move the wedge along the central clamp axis.

  • Patent number: 11685010
Abstract: A sharpening apparatus includes a base having a top surface with a channel or mounting rail. A clamping assembly is configured to be secured to base via the rail or channel. When installed, the clamping assembly includes a pair of jaws extending upward from the top of the base in opposed alignment with distal ends of each jaw adjustably spaced to grip a cutting implement. A guide rod has an end configured to be pivotably mounted to the base via the rail or channel and so that the rod's position along the base is adjustable by sliding movement along the rail or channel.

  • Patent number: 11317178
Abstract: A low-frequency loudspeaker is provided comprising an enclosure having a front, a back and a sidewall. An audio speaker is mounted in an opening in the front of the enclosure. The audio speaker has a diaphragm for producing front sound waves that are transmitted outwardly from the diaphragm and back sound waves that are transmitted into the enclosure from the diaphragm. A spiral waveguide is positioned within the enclosure. The spiral waveguide has a first end proximal to the speaker diaphragm for receiving the back sound waves and extends outwardly therefrom in a spiral pattern to a second end that forms a low-frequency terminus exit port opening in the sidewall.

  • Patent number: 11052512
Abstract: A clamping apparatus has first and second clamping members extending in an opposed, spaced-apart relation along a central axis from proximal end portions to distal end portions with inside surfaces of the clamping members facing each other. A gap between the proximal end portions is adjustable to releasably secure an object between the distal end portions. A clamp actuator has a handle and a wedge, moving the handle to a first handle position moves the wedge linearly along the clamp central axis in engagement with the inside surfaces of the proximal end portions to increase the gap. Moving the handle to the second handle position moves the wedge in an opposite direction along the central clamp axis, thereby permitting the gap to decrease. In embodiments, the clamping force is adjustable.

  • Patent number: 10744614
Abstract: A sharpening apparatus includes a base having a top surface with a channel or mounting rail. A clamping assembly and at least one angle adjustment assembly are releasably securable to base using the rail or channel. When installed, the clamping assembly includes comprising a pair of jaws extending substantially perpendicularly upward from the top surface in opposed alignment and distal ends adjustably spaced to grip a cutting implement. The angle adjustment assembly has a bracket and a rod receptacle pivotably attached to the bracket. A longitudinal guide rod has an end portion constructed to be releasably secured to the rod receptacle. The sharpening apparatus is constructed to be reversibly assembled with the clamping assembly and the at least one angle adjustment assembly secured to the mounting rail with the angle adjustment assembly adjustably spaced from the clamping assembly, and with the first rod end portion secured to the rod receptacle.

  • Patent number: 10131028
Abstract: An apparatus for sharpening a cutting implement includes a base assembly and first and second clamping members pivotably supported by the base assembly. The clamping members each have an inside surface, a proximal end portion, and a distal end portion, where the second inside surface faces and is spaced apart from the first inside surface. The clamping members are adapted to pivot to clamp a cutting implement between the inside surfaces. A clamping assembly attached to the base assembly includes a cam member movably supported by the base assembly, a follower assembly disposed in operational engagement with the cam member and with the proximal end portions of the first and second clamping members. A handle is operatively connected to the cam member, where operating the handle moves the cam member, thereby moving the follower assembly and pivoting the first and second clamping members.

  • Patent number: 9216488
Abstract: An apparatus for sharpening a cutting implement has a base, a first clamping member and a second clamping member extending above the base. The clamping members have opposite top portions, bottom portions, and vertical inside surfaces substantially parallel to a vertical plane of the cutting implement. At least one guide rod is pivotably attached to the base. The guide rod distal end extends above the base at an angle to the vertical plane. An abrasive implement holder is configured to slidably move along the at least one guide rod. The abrasive implement holder has a body and holder aperture therethrough that extends along a guide rod axis and that is sized and configured to receive the guide rod. An adjustable face plate is pivotably connected to the body and defines a second angle with the guide rod axis. Pivoting the adjustable face plate changes the second angle.
