Publication number: 20240100403Abstract: Described herein are embodiments of an iron-type golf club head comprising a rear opening and an insert. The insert either partially or fully occupies the club head interior cavity. The insert damps vibrations occurring within the club head at impact to provide a desirable sound and feel. The insert is formed of a low-density material, thereby providing a significant damping effect while also creating discretionary mass.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 21, 2023Publication date: March 28, 2024Inventors: Clayson C. Spackman, Matthew W. Simone, Cory S. Bacon

Publication number: 20240091608Abstract: The golf club head described herein can have a metal body and a non-metal insert. The insert forms an entire toe end of the club head. The insert can have an offset surface, located behind the strike face of the body, wherein the insert and strike face form a gap therebetween. The insert offset surface can comprise a backstop that temporarily restricts bending of a center of the strike face during a golf ball impact. The gap between the strike face and the insert allows the strike face to flex while the backstop prevents the strike face from over flexing. In one embodiment, the golf club head can comprise a body having an interior cavity that opens towards a toe end. The insert can form an outermost surface of the toe end and fill a portion of the cavity.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 2, 2022Publication date: March 21, 2024Inventor: Clayson C. Spackman

Publication number: 20240091605Abstract: A golf club head includes a resilient member extending from a sole of the club head to the crown. The resilient member has a convex, arcuate shape relative to a strike face of the club. The resilient member has a rest state prior to impact with a golf ball, in which the resilient member defines a first chord length, and a deflected state during impact with a golf ball, in which the resilient member defines a second chord length that is greater than the first chord length. The resilient member improves impact response of the strike face to allow strike face thickness to be reduced while maintaining durability of the golf club head.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 21, 2023Publication date: March 21, 2024Inventors: Clayson C. Spackman, Eric J. Morales, Joshua A. Degerness, Cory S. Bacon
