  • Patent number: 11428411
Abstract: A venturi for a swirler assembly of a combustor for a gas turbine engine. The venturi has an annular wall having internal diameter of a forward end of the annular wall that is larger than an internal diameter of a middle portion of the annular wall, which is smaller than an internal diameter of an aft end of the annular wall. The internal surface of the annular wall has a plurality of grooves extending in a longitudinal direction from the forward end of the annular wall to the aft end of the annular wall. The plurality of grooves are angled with respect to a centerline axis of the annular wall and may be spiraled about the internal surface of the annular wall.

  • Patent number: 11156361
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a fuel injector for a gas turbine engine. The fuel injector includes an end wall, a centerbody, an outer sleeve surrounding the centerbody from the end wall toward the downstream end of the fuel injector, and a thermal management conduit. The centerbody includes an axially extended outer wall and inner wall extended from the end wall toward a downstream end of the fuel injector. The outer wall, the inner wall, and the end wall together define a fluid conduit extended in a first direction toward the downstream end of the fuel injector and in a second direction toward an upstream end of the fuel injector. The outer sleeve and the centerbody define a premix passage radially therebetween and an outlet at the downstream end of the premix passage. The outer sleeve defines a plurality of radially oriented first air inlet ports in circumferential arrangement at a first axial portion of the outer sleeve.

  • Patent number: 11092084
Abstract: A gas turbine engine includes a combustion section, the combustion section including a plurality of fuel nozzles. A fuel delivery system for the gas turbine engine includes a feed tube and a fuel manifold fluidly connected to the feed tube for receiving fuel from the feed tube. The fuel delivery system also includes a pigtail fuel line fluidly connected to the fuel manifold and configured to fluidly connect to a fuel nozzle of the plurality of fuel nozzles when the fuel delivery system is installed in the gas turbine engine. In order to reduce an amount of hydraulic instability of a fuel flow through the fuel delivery system, at least one of the fuel manifold or the pigtail fuel line includes a means for damping a hydraulic instability within the fuel delivery system.

  • Publication number: 20180231256
Abstract: A rotating detonation combustion system includes an outer wall and an inner wall together defining at least in part a combustion chamber and a combustion chamber inlet. A nozzle of the rotating detonation combustion system is located at the combustion chamber inlet, the nozzle defining a lengthwise direction and extending between a nozzle inlet and a nozzle outlet along the lengthwise direction. The nozzle further defines a throat between the nozzle inlet and nozzle outlet. A fuel injection port is also provided, the fuel injection port defining a fuel outlet located between the nozzle inlet and the nozzle outlet for providing fuel to a flow of oxidizer received through the nozzle inlet.
