Patents by Inventor Clellie Winter

Clellie Winter has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Patent number: 11024923
Abstract: The present disclosure is related to electrochemical cells and associated methods. According to certain embodiments, the electrochemical cells comprise an electronically insulating region. In some embodiments, the electronically insulating region can be mechanically compliant. In some embodiments, the insulating region may comprise multiple layers (e.g., mechanically separable layers). The use of such arrangements can, according to certain embodiments, reduce the degree to which the electronically insulating region is breached by lithium dendrite growth.

  • Publication number: 20190006699
Abstract: Systems and methods for the application of force to and thermal management of electrochemical cells are generally described. In some embodiments, a pressure distributor containing a fluid is configured such that a force can be applied to at least one component of an electrochemical cell (e.g., an active surface of an electrode within the electrochemical cell) through the pressure distributor. In certain embodiments, a pressure transmitter can be configured to apply the force to a component of the electrochemical cell through the pressure distributor. The fluid within the pressure distributor can ensure that the anisotropic force applied to the electrochemical cell is distributed substantially evenly over the interface between the pressure distributor and a component of the electrochemical cell and therefore, over the active surface of one or more electrodes within the electrochemical cell.
