  • Publication number: 20090071069
Abstract: A landscape edging stake is provided that has a relatively large pocket area formed at its bottom end. The pocket region is shaped such that upward motion of the stake will engage the pocket region with the soil in a manner resisting the upward motion. The exemplary pocket region has sides that extend outward at an angle from the main body of the stake so as to form a surface which will engage the soil when the stake is moved upward. The angle of the pocket sides is shown as an exemplary v-shaped angle which also serves to assist the insertion of stake. In this manner, the pocket is shaped such that it assists insertion but resists removal.

  • Publication number: 20080250707
Abstract: A landscape fabric for covering a landscaping region may be comprised of a three dimensional moisture permeable fabric that has projections extending upward and downward from the fabric. The fabric may prevent the growth of undesirable vegetation, may trap moisture, and may prevent erosion. The fabric can be made of woven materials, non-woven materials, knit materials or the like. The projections in the fabric may be compressible allowing them to return to their shape after being substantially compressed, providing for convenient rolling or folding of the fabric, and easy cutting and manipulation of the fabric.

  • Publication number: 20060016306
Abstract: A landscape utility knife assembly discloses a single tool that can puncture the middle of a landscape liner and make the incisions necessary to place plants in the middle region of a landscape or garden area. The knife assembly consists of a replaceable blade and housing. The housing is composed of three regions: a handle region, a blade region, and a penetration region. These regions, which compose the housing, are arranged geometrically to form an acute angle. The tip of the penetration region forms a sharp point that can puncture a landscape liner. The penetration region is adjacent to the blade region and serves also to guide the liner into the replaceable blade that is exposed and recessed at the vertex of the angle formed by the housing.

  • Patent number: 6834462
Abstract: A landscape border segment is disclosed having a first end formed for insertion into the ground, a second end, and a transition region between the two. A connection feature is located proximate the second end and is formed to connect to another landscape border segment at varied locations between its transition region and first end. Further, the connection feature can also be formed to connect to the other landscape border segment at varied angles. In certain embodiments, the connection feature can be formed to connect to the other landscape border segment anywhere between its transition region and first end and at any angle except for angles in which the landscape border segments would physically overlap.

  • Patent number: 6622426
Abstract: A stackable landscape edging segment is disclosed that can be stacked to form multi-layer landscape edging. The landscape edging segment has an elongated body. A lower stacking connection feature and an upper stacking connection feature are coupled to the elongated body. The upper stacking connection feature is formed to connect to a matching landscape edging segment by engaging with a matching lower stacking connection feature. In one embodiment, the stackable landscape edging segment comprises a plurality of spikes connected to and extending downward from the elongated body. And, each spike includes a lower stacking connection feature. In this embodiment, the stackable landscape edging segment also comprises a plurality of upper stacking connection features, each associated with and aligned with one of the spikes. Further disclosed are methods of manufacturing and using the stackable landscape edging segments.
