  • Patent number: 4858403
Abstract: A fastening bar assembly for connecting together adjacent insulating panels of an insulated enclosure, in which the panels have a foamed in situ insulating foam core and metal skins on the inner and outer faces thereof, and wherein the fastening bar assembly is encapsulated in the foam core and has connecting means on opposite ends thereof for securing together adjacent ends of fastening bar assemblies in adjacent panels. In the present invention, an improved fastening bar assembly comprises an elongate bar body having opposite ends bent at an angle to the body and extending into proximity with a peripheral flange on the skin of the panel and secured to the flange on the skin, whereby in a completed panel the fastening bar serves to strengthen the skin and prevent its delamination from the foam core, and said fastening bar is also accurately positioned in the panel. In addition, an improved panel sealing gasket is secured to a side edge of the panel.

  • Patent number: 4070848
Abstract: A bar assembly for securely interconnecting frameless insulating panels for walk-in refrigerators, refrigerated warehouses and the like, includes a bar body having apertured anchor elements spot welded thereto. Non-metallic, preferably nylon, female threaded coupling pods are snapped into the apertures of the anchor elements and have rectangular flange plates which resist rotation of the pods in the assembly. The threaded pods receive lag screws of fastening bar assemblies in adjacent insulating panels. A super strong threaded connection is assured and thermal conductivity in the system is greatly reduced. A greatly expedited assembly of the fastening bars is also attained.

  • Patent number: 4044511
Abstract: Foamed-in-place metal skin covered insulating panels for the walls of walk-in coolers, freezers and refrigerated warehouses having a fastening bar assembly encapsulated therein. The fastening bar assembly possesses opposite end male and female fastening means for positive and rigid coupling with like threaded means of adjacent wall panels. The male fastening means includes a lag screw and a unique retaining means for the screw which positions it for use while protecting it from contact with the foamed insulation during fabrication of the panel with the fastening bar assembly in place between jig fixtures. The less efficient, weaker and more costly cam locking means of the prior art is eliminated.
