    Abstract: A new and distinct variety of poinsettia is characterized by a flower having generally the same characteristics as its parent, Annette Hegg Supreme (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 3,392) but the new variety is a brighter darker red and under normal growing conditions the bracts are between 10 percent and 40 percent wider with less open space between bracts. The new plant is 10-20 percent shorter than its parent and is more compact. The new plant blooms 3-5 days earlier than its parent. The new variety is a self branching plant. When pinched, the sprouts finish more uniformly than the parent. Leaf and bract retentions are equal to those of the parent.

    Abstract: A new and distinct variety of poinsettia plant is a sport of Annette Hegg Supreme (U.S. Plant Pat. 3,392). The new variety is characterized by bracts which are distinctly rugose. The leaves, however, are not rugose. The bracts are light pink but the venation is dark rose and prominent. The bracts are not lobed. The bracts are more round and less pointed than in the parent. The foliage is a lighter green than in the parent.

The upper side of the petals of the parent Veronica, is Red-Purple Group 58B (R.H.S.). The major outer portion of the upper side of the petals in the new variety is Red Group 46B (R.H.S.) the medial portion is Red Group 44C (RHS), a blotch of Red Group 53C is between the areas of Red Group 46B and 44C, the base portion where the petal joins the stem has a blotch of white, forming with the other petals of the corolla a white eye, and the underside of the petals is Red Group 41A.
