Patent number: 10504336Abstract: The present invention discloses a novel Game-Ride System: a game in which people can physically ride the playing pieces. Simultaneously it is a physical ride whose passengers, via their vehicles, can be “played with” and, in certain embodiments, wagered upon. A typical application incorporates an overall electronic game control subsystem adapted to playing a particular kind of game, accepting input from one or more playing consoles (whether local or remote), and issuing various commands for display of game progress and outcomes. However, in the present invention, the display means is very much augmented, involving a physical ride subsystem where people are riding on or in actual physical elements of the game being played. Such a correlation of, and interaction between, ride and game provide novel and exciting entertainment for player, rider and observer.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 2018Date of Patent: December 10, 2019Inventors: Stefan D. Kogler, Clifford A. Jennings

Patent number: 9981194Abstract: In a theater or ride attraction, a motion base articulates a load-bearing seating platform by independently revolving two intermediate wedge-like rings to provide pitch, roll and yaw movements. Unlike flight simulator types of motion bases, these movements do not rely on substantially horizontally pivoting axes, and the resultant loads imparted to motive components. Rather the movements are provided by a circumferentially wedging action between the rings. The motion base has high load carrying capacity and reduced space requirements.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 2017Date of Patent: May 29, 2018Assignee: Falcon's Treehouse LLCInventor: Clifford A. Patent number: 9254040Abstract: An improved inverted motion base with left, right, and rear supports, a carriage to travel along a length of the rear support. The inverted motion base includes a first cable connected to the carriage and wound about a first drum to raise and lower the carriage, and left and right load carrying arms, each connected to a respective left and right ends of a transverse support member. The inverted motion base further includes a second cable connected to the right load carrying arm to raise and lower the right load carrying arm, and a third cable connected to the left load carrying arm to raise and lower the second end of the left load carrying arm. One or more rows of seats are positioned between and suspended from the right and left load carrying arms, each row of seats being parallel to the other row of seats.Type: GrantFiled: March 13, 2014Date of Patent: February 9, 2016Assignee: OCEANEERING INTERNATIONAL, INC.Inventors: Samuel T. Foster, Stephen F. Fromyer, Eric A. King, Clifford A. Jennings

Patent number: 8978570Abstract: A lifting platform for use in a body of water has (a) a plurality of float modules, each float module having a buoyancy compartment, and each float module being attached to adjacent float modules by means of flexible joints; (b) at least one container disposed in each float module for retaining a buoyancy fluid; and (c) a discharge apparatus for discharging buoyancy fluid to the buoyancy compartments of the float modules, so as to fill each buoyancy compartment with buoyancy fluid, thereby causing the plurality of modules to float to a position at or near the surface of the body of water.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 2013Date of Patent: March 17, 2015Assignee: Oceaneering International, Inc.Inventors: David C. Mauck, William Bryan, Ronald H. Garber, Clifford A. Jennings, Nicholas K. Miller, John Linn

Publication number: 20070231072Abstract: A submersible and remotely-operable platform system for carrying out repeated operations in a submarine position, and producing electrical energy as either a primary or secondary purpose by means of one or more energy-conversion payload devices installed thereon. The platform and payload devices may be periodically brought to the surface and thence, if necessary, to a shore-based facility for maintenance or refit. In deployment, the platform is preferably engaged to its mooring lines and electrical cables while still on the surface. Simultaneous with controlled flooding of certain of its volumes, the platform is guided to an operational depth and attitude by the action of its winch assemblies upon their engaged mooring lines. Subsea currents energize the platform's payload of energy conversion devices, the electrical output being preferably conveyed via one or more surface-attached cables to an off-board facility for further processing, distribution, or consumption.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 29, 2006Publication date: October 4, 2007Inventors: Clifford Jennings, James Martin

Patent number: 7094157Abstract: A pneumatic motion platform is disclosed, adapted to allow an open center to handle shear stress without the need for a central support. In an embodiment, the platform comprises a deck; a base; a plurality of inflatable actuators, each actuator attached to the deck at a predetermined location intermediate the base and the deck, the plurality of inflatable actuators adapted for use as an active motive force with respect to the deck in a plurality of planes; a plurality of compliant stabilizers disposed intermediate the deck and the base, at least one portion of each stabilizer disposed proximate a predetermined one of the plurality of inflatable actuators; a fluid controller in fluid communication with the plurality of inflatable actuators; and a source of fluid in fluid communication with the fluid controller. A ride vehicle may comprise a cabin attached to a deck attached to the motion platform attached to a rotator such as a turntable.Type: GrantFiled: February 18, 2004Date of Patent: August 22, 2006Assignee: Oceaneering International, Inc.Inventors: Stephen F.
