Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for fracturing rock in a formation to enhance the production of fluids from the formation. In one exemplary method, one or more wells are drilled into a reservoir, wherein each well comprises a main wellbore with two or more lateral wellbores drilled out from the main wellbore. One or more explosive charges are placed within each of the two or more lateral wellbores, and the explosive charges are detonated to generate pressure pulses which at least partially fracture a rock between the two or more lateral wellbores. The detonations are timed such that one or more pressure pulses emanating from different lateral wellbores interact.

Abstract: A turn-key solution is provided for the live Internet audio/video broadcasting and the transferring of previously recorded material. A system shares audio/video data over a network by utilizing a compact, camera-mountable video/audio encoder and a connection module mounted to a video camera. The video/audio encoder includes a connection interface for receiving the audio/video data, a digital signal processor for encoding the audio/video data, and a network interface for coupling the video/audio encoder to a network, such as the Internet. The connection module mounts the video/audio encoder to the video camera and provides an electronic interface to the camera to transfer the audio/video data from the camera to the video/audio encoder through the connection interface. A remote controller including a user interface enables the addition of metadata to the audio/video file over a personal area network connection.

Abstract: In a stern seal and bearing assembly for the stern shaft of a ship there is an oil seal assembly at the outboard end of the bearing and a sea water seal (preferably a face seal) axially spaced from it, with a drain from the space between the two, and the oil seal assembly comprises a pair of lip seals directed towards each other with a drain from the space between them. The oil supply to the bearing can be at low pressure, for example simply the static head from a tank slightly above the level of the bearing, and the last-mentioned drain may have a swan neck above the oil level.
