    Abstract: The present invention provides a novel and unique device, method and system that detects thiocyanate in seawater with the halide ions present that can be provided in a hand-portable device that offers detection limits to 1-2 ppb which at least twice as sensitive as the nearest known device in the current state of the art. The sensor is also sensitive to nitrate ions (NO3?) in seawater at similar ppb concentrations as thiocyanate.
